Garmin Quest Sat Nav - T350
Discussion
I've a 276c (bigger than the quest) with the beanie automotive mount kit... It works fine as a dash mount in practically every car but the T350. GPS mounts in a tvr need a bit more than gravity to hold them steady (esp over bumpy A/B roads) I suspect a sucker mount will suffer a similar fate at some point. Until I sort out something more permanent? I usually wedge the gps under the glove box lid. The larger screen on the 276 means I can have it further away from my aging eyeballs than a quest. I use the supplied 12V jack plug speaker for audio directions and that works just fine.
NEPH meet at a pub in SW Durham, not far from the A1.
Big car park so theres plenty of space.
The TVR Club NE group, meet at the pub just down the road from Ncle A'port. ( see club mag for detials of dates)
See the NE threads for details of 'whats on'with the NEPH group, and it'll show the dates etc.
You should pop along and meet the troops.....good crowd, and we also need more TVR's at the NEPH group as the Lotus 'girls' are takin' the gaff over !

The Quest was very good in bright sunshine - it remained clear and readable. The screen is adequate in size, but it can get a bit busy with information sometimes. The speaker was loud enough at slow speeds but impossible to hear when making progress. No mapping issues. I did also use a Streetpilot and the bean bag mount is completely useless on the dashboard - it slides straight off as soon as you accelerate. I had to duct tape it to the dash!
The sucker mount on the Quest is fine, if a bit wobbly.

Having said all that I went for the all singing, all dancing Tom tom Go 700 - because it has all of Europe ready loaded, bluetooth hands free capability, FREE SPEED CAMERA DATABASE (There isn't one for Garmin - not one that actually works), and there is a subscription service to get traffic reports, weather etc. It's also very user friendly, has touch screen plus remote control, 3D view if needed, night colours screen, and John Cleese voice instructions.
I figured that I'd have to spend £350 for a Road Angel, at least £250 for any sort of decent Sat Nav, plus £50 or so for a bluetooth headset - so £550 for a Go 700 seemed a good purchase!
