TVR France launch
Discussion
About a month ago I drove through france on an event called the supercar run and the clutch broke. I got the car taken to The English Mechanics in Opio where TVR France were about to launch. TVRSpirit, the chap who is running the sales operation for TVR France invited me to attend the inaugural dinner last Saturday.
It was held at an enourmous restaurant (owned by one P Viera) and they had a line up of TVRs in the courtyard: a griff, chim, cerb, my T350, also a purple Sagaris, the new Tuscan S, Tuscan Convertible (looks very nice), and a 1963 TVR lightweight of which only 6 were made, 3 of them for Le Mans. The lightweight sounded fantastic, the owner Phil who lives in France reckons he gets 170bhp at the wheel in a 610kg (with fuel) car. A thoroughly enjoyable event chatting to the other owners and getting steadily more drunk. I hope they make a success of it down there.
So the next day I picked up the T350 (with new clutch) and started driving back. Noticed a few extra miles on the clock since I left the car with them, possibly a few more than is strictly necessary for testing the clutch ;) The biting point on the new clutch is about 6 inches long - you have to competely depress it to disengage but it doesnt fully engage until your foot is off. I wonder if this can be adjusted? Also, the tickover has been set to 500 and if you have the a/c on at idle it stalls, very annoying.
Other than that (and a very sensitive alarm) the car is fine and we had a great time coming back through the twisties of france over three days.
