Could anybody tell me at which services the garage check the timing chains on a speed six

I didn't know there was any scheduled maintenance of this part. The benefit of a chain is that is does not need replacing like a cambelt (and doesn't break like a cambelt). Maybe they need a bit of retensioning or something sometimes but I'd guess this would only be checked at the 12k tappet service at the very most (when they have the top cover off and hopefully can see the state of the chain as it wraps around the camshafts).

Paul,

Don't know what the recommended interval is, but i've just had mine retensioned at 12k svc, it was rattling against the cover between 2,900 - 3,200 rpm?
