Will be 'upgrading' the exhaust on my T350 at its first service. Currently researching options and note Power sell two types - Super Sports and TVR Large Bore and ACT have their own.

What's the best guys? Any recommendations - I have driven a car with the TVR large bore system and the 'improvement' over standard is why I want one so old ladies can hear me coming :shout:

What about the _young_ ladies - aren't they an important target audience??

Having had a 350 and been through the same issue.... if you want the loudest, popping and banging exhaust go to racing green.... there's is just evil... and I loved it!

The Racing Green rear boxes and the TVR Power Super Sports are one and the same. They sound absolutely fantastic!

I went through the Hatfield tunnel in 2nd gear last week and must have deafened dozens of people!

Well I have TVR Power Super Sports exhaust and they are LOUD with lots of pops and bangs on over run.
I only recommend you get them fitted if you live in an understanding & friendly neighbourhood .

That sounds like my sort of neighbourhood - full of retired teachers and the like - really tolerant of newbies As if a TVR on the village lane wasn't enough already

Super Sports it is then - next questions - any point in shopping around and can you fit it yourself?

Just to chuck a spanner in - I've got the ACT exhaust and it is quite superb. Loud, but not MaxPower-I've-removed everything-between-engine-and-you-loud, and a fantastic wuffle when it's idling - when the engine's warm after a decent run, it idles just like a V8 - nice and bassy, but it screams at high revs. On Eurohoon last year, the guys at the top of Sustenpass said they could hear me 20 minutes before I arrived!

Tony Hetherington commented that when he followed me onto the Eurotunnel train in Rods' 911, all they could hear (and feel) was my exhaust burbling away!

Smolenski had a special factory large bore made for his T350.

But not as it is on the TVR Power web site!!!:

Each pipe is a large single piece into the box. Nothing like this picture!

How do I know......

I got a JP exhaust, which sounds pretty similar to your description - thought I'd read somewhere that JP make the exhausts for ACT?

www.jpexhausts.co.uk/

Definitely highly recommend it

Carl

Supersports, easy to fit and has been modded to stop it hitting the undertray.

Took me 1/2 hour to fit and 2 hours drive to test afterwards.

At 80MPH you would not know the difference, on tickover sounds very burbly, under accerleration I have been told "deafening" if you are behind, in the cabin a little louder but accceptable.

Lol Zoooom - fitted this morning and just taken for a growl. A trifle more noise in the cabin but the sound on acceleration and over run is great! More 'crackle' than 'pop'.

Took just over an hour to fit and most of that time was spent getting the two independent pipes to sit centrally in the diffuser exit holes.

Hi Carl,
What a fantastic colour your car is!! What is that paint called?
I know you have fitted your new exhaust now, but did you find the plates that the exhaust hangs on at the back, on the boot floor? as i had to keep on pushing mine over in the holes, as the 100mm tail pipes were rubbing on the holes in the defuser.
These plates i mentioned earlier, have long slots in them, allowing at least 25mm of movement either way (sideways).
So this little tip might help others to line theirs up perhaps.

Hi Dave. The colour is Amethyst Pearl - I like it too!

I did find the plates but they were already at their furthest apart. What I had to adjust was the bracket(s) holding the inlet pipes together. These obviously need to be kept at the same distance for the standard rear box but as the super sports consists of two seperate silencers then you can open up the bracket spacing to get the tail pipes through the diffuser ok.
