Hi,

Problems seem to be coming thick and fast at the moment.

Got back from the attemped fix of my speedo sensor last night and when putting the car away at night I noticed a patch of something on the flags underneath the very front drivers side corner of the car. It was definetly from the car as there were drips on the front bodywork.

Anyone got any ideas what I should be looking out for tonight? (was dark before I noticed last night)

I'm guessing it's some sort of oil as the patch was still on the flags this morning. I did check the engine oil last night and it was still on the max.

Thanks in advance.

Possibly the oil pressure sender unit. I think they are designed to leak or something...

This is located on the lower inner wing kind of below/towards the front of the airbox. If it is this then don't worry, TADTS. Mine has started dripping, but the hassle of getting a replacement that doesn't report the oil pressure properly is bigger than a tiny drip. (My dealer went through 4 senders before he got one to work properly last time.)

No, that's something else. If you follow that washer hose in the picture up to the left you will get to the oil pressure sender unit.

The one you point to certainly looks like another sender unit of some description. Possibly also oil looking at its location?!

Good idea pictures say a thousand words!I always take pictures of bits of the Tuscan when they are removed as they are always useful when putting it back together again!

I had an oil leak from mine soon after getting it.

The breather pipe from the oil reservoir to the Inlet Air box had come off.

I just re-attached it and added a jubilee clip.

Problem sorted.

Yep the good old story of the oil pressure sender unit.
My third one leaked after only two weeks on my fourth one at the moment.

How much do dealers charge to replace the sender?

Is it covered by a mechanical warranty?

Don't no about cost mine were done under warranty as my car is still under a year old.
Its only a ten minute job they do it while you wait at Gatwick TVR, just make sure you check that its been adjusted properly before you leave by checking your oil pressure gauges.
Otherwise you will keep getting low oil pressure warning codes all the time while driving.
This can be very especially when your driving a long at 70mph and you look down at your oil pressure gauges and its only reading 17psi

I have a leaking oil presure sensor too, we decided to leave well alone, as trying to reseal it would most probably make it worse (Quoting a TVR machanic)
Unless a new one was fitted of course.

Me too. It works properly. I can cope with the odd drip. I won't replace it until the drip becomes a steady stream. Too much hassle getting one that works properly.
