Had my Tam for just over a year now (from new) and she has been fantastic!!! Have looked after her like you can't imagine. I have noticed recently that, instead of getting used to the speed or becoming complacent, the Tam just seems to get faster and faster. Last night (on a wide empty road), I accellerated hard out of first into second gear up to 6000 rpm and WOW WOW WOW, the power blew my mind - it wasn't like that before. I couldn't believe the ooomph. In fact it was scary and I knew she could do much more!!! What's going on?
If you think that's quick, try revving to 8000! :wink:
Tamora's are real beasties. Autocar timed one from 0-100 in 9.1 seconds! There aren't many cars on sale which can live with that. A brand new 500bhp M5? 0-100 in 9.5.
Wheeler got a lot of criticism for not makeing a slower, cheaper Tamora. Personally I think it's cool that every TVR means business!

They definately get quicker- mines at 6k and the engine is a lot more punchy and looser( in a good way).
It takes up to 10k to really loosen up a performance engine.
It feels way faster than anything I have driven before
but its so controlable-I love the very linear power delivery. I have jumped on it above 5K yet but hear its quite an event!

The service book reveals that they don't put fully synthetic oil in the engine until the 6000 mile service. That's very revealing and incidentally what Honda do with the S2000, which is known to be a very robust unit.
The idea is that lower grade mineral oil allows the engine a small amount of wear that the super slippery synthetic stuff doesn't. So the running in really isn't properly done until 6000 miles. Mind you, you have to rev it to do a proper job until between 2-6k thank goodness.
So I'd expect mine to be at it's best from 6000 onwards. Having just done a long european blast I can confirm that the whole thing works like a dream after a long run. I think all engines like a long journey but the way my car pulls through the gears now is much much better than when I left Paris traffic a week ago!
