Is anyone running a T350 or Tam with TVRPower SuperSport exhaust and de-cat pipes? If so - what does it sound like apart from f:censored:g deafening? I've got the SS and I'm considering de-cats or is it just too loud:D

Maybe would be interesting to slot a couple of cherry bombs in instead of straight pipes. Views please!!

Apparentley (according to some bloke at Racing Green TVR), removing the cats on an S6 results in a bit of a top-end power loss. I've got no proof of that but he seemed to know what he was on about so I took his word for it.

Mine hit 124dB, at BNG, with the cats still in.

If it looses power (even a little bit) I'm not sure I can see the point.

Had my Cats removed some weeks ago - car has more grunt now right across the range - also had my manifolds ceramic coated - helps with heat and exhaust efficiency. Sound MUCH better - louder, crisper with some nice "popping off" sounds when deaccelerating. Also helps with cabin temperature too as the Cats would give off a lot of heat. Once done I'm told the car should be Dyno-tuned to maximise the effect - stands to reason as the whole exhaust set-up has changed and the car should be mapped for this - have not done this yet but intend to.

Do you have standard rear box or have you fitted supersports. Mine pops and bangs like mad with supersports plus cats in place.

I think the owner at Austec found similar results, he has a Tamora, and has been trying various things with that.

You dont lose top end power, you do gain some, in the region of 8 bhp with a decatt chip that you can get from Dom at TVR Power, you do however get a torque flat spot at 3000 rpm - 3500 ish. You dont notice it much as the torque is quite high there...

I have a Mark Adams rechip for the T350 (with decatt) that produced 375 bhp on mine in the cupboard I think.

I've just had the TVR Power Super Sports Silencers fitted and haven't noticec any difference in performance thus far.

Is it necessary to get a de-cat chip or simply have the car dyno-tuned, if a de-cat chip is necessary do you have any contact details of where I can get?

Dyno tune is a complete remapp of the fuel and ingition etc, as the car is running, and takes some time, best part of a day really.

The problem with removing the cats and sport exhuast is loss of back pressure. Back pressure helps close the valves (there is alot more which Im sure a technical person would list). The Decatt chip remapps the fuel so trying and stop any vavle burn etc, and the Remapp is a totally different in the fuel mapping and ignition timing when Paul looked top a std chip

Along time ago when I spoke to Dom about this, he suggested modifying my back box for the noise, but keep the back pressure if I was going to decatt my car.

I did both (Sport exhuast and decatt), but had a remapp at Austec with Mark Adams and Paul, so this was sorted out. The remap and bits cost £1100 or so.

I have a low quality wav file somewhere of my car so you can hear the effects if you so wish.
