do i need one?
Discussion
hi, i've gotta 5ltr chimeara at the moment and 2 be honest i've never really liked the looks of the thing its a bit dated but i bought it just for the sheer grunt and brutality when u give it a good kicking, i'm going to sell (try) and buy a tamora (it'll be an early one) just wondered if many of u guys have gone from a 5ltr to one of these and regretted it or was it the car u should of bought in the 1st place. hope nobody off the chimaera forum reads this or i'll be banned! they do so love the bloody thing. lol.

Not had a Chim personally, but taken Chim owners out in mine, and they were v impressed with the handling - it really is quite an improvement, from what other people have said, so go for it!
I had a 4.0 ltr Chim, 99 on a T new shape, and I have had a Tamora.
Now I cannot comment on the power of the 5.0 v8 as an every day car, I have drove a griff, and the two are worlds apart.
The Tamora would win it every day for me. Much more agile, better driving position, easy throttle responce (you can drive at 30mph in 4th and just pull away with no effort). The suspension was is better set up etc.
Downside. Much smaller boot, the roof is harder to get in, the supension is a little more stiff, but you get a better response. Oh, and the v8 growl. You have to get sports exhuast for this, but they are great.
I guess you have ready up on the Speed Six issue, there is a good thread on the Tuscan forum listing the type of issue and the cars age, most failures seem to be 200-2002, but there are later cars that fail.
You will have to let the car warm up before you use the power, but this just adds to the anticipation of it all.
Tamora is a step in the right direction, just be aware of the issues, and have your eyes open if you buy one.

Had a 4 lt. Chim and now got a Tamora. No way would I go back to the Chim, if you like driving your car hard go for a Tamora. The Chim is so dated now. And I say this at the time the engine is being rebuilt on the Tam.
Same here - 4l Chimaera to Tamora - no contest - the Tamora interior is miles better, particularly passenger legroom, the seats are better, but it's the handling that will get you. They are unbelievably good round corners! I have just returned from Eurohoon, and spent most of the time running with PetrolTed's cerb, and Tony H's Elise - the Tamora can handle 90% as well as the Elise with no fuss or drama. GET ONE!!!
Thanks for the imput chaps, the handling and stylings (inside and out) gonna throw it for me and to hear a comment where u can mention an elise and tvr in the same breath is very refreshing, the 5ltr chimp is not a slow car and i doubt the tam is going to be a lot quicker but under full slog the 5ltr is shall i say unsafe, i do like to drive the cars i have and i've had many from the 911 to lotus v8 ect and this chimp has got me beat, i just hope my tamora (when i get it) is gonna be as relible as my current tvr, hears hopeing lol. bye bye all and i'll post when i've got my new toy, cheer's
steve.
