I'm wanting to take the plunge and get myself a Tamora. Realistically my budget should be around the £26k mark, the more I’m looking into it the more I’m convincing myself to buy new and give myself an extra £10k of debt. The logic behind this is that I’m delusional but more importantly escape the risk of buying a TVR that is about to explode, can obviously choose my own spec and they come with a 3 year warranty. Not knowing massive amounts about cars this is appealing.
My financially sensible side is screaming at me saying you cannot afford a new Tamora, buy second hand. To be honest I’m a bit scared that I’ll buy a £25k Tamora and within a year realise that I’ve spent so much on getting it sorted that I might as well have bought new.
Basically shall I buy a new one and enter a world of debt or go second hand and if so what problems am I likely to come across?
Thanks

Only you can answer that question really. Why not buy a 2nd hand car from a dealer and have them warranty it for 3 years (using the new TVR approved warranty scheme). Best of both worlds, and at a more affordable cost?

I was in the same position a while ago and went for a used car with a warranty (because I happened to find a car at the right spec with a substantial discount).

If I hadn't I'd probably have bought new.

If i had my time again, i would buy new, especially with the 3 yr warranty and the changes that have been made to the current spec of cars, etc...

I am having a similar dilema at the moment, whether to swap or spend money on current Tam?

Good luck

I bought mine new 'cos I wanted to make sure it would be run-in properly plus the TVR warrenty etc. (which at the time was the old 1+1 year). However, I have come to realise that most TVR owners (at least the one's on this site) will probably have run-in their P&Js properly and that, in hindight I may have saved myself a bundle of cash buying second hand! However I have no complaints and have been very happy with my new Tam from day one.

I did the same thing recently. I started out looking at a used Tam and then discovered I couldn't afford one due to the negative equity on the Mercedes.

A fab offer was made to me regarding a new car and basically I would have been mad to turn it down.

We are now the delighted owners of a new Tamora.

I would probably expect that by the time you have specced up a new Tamora you will being looking at £40000 +.Wheels/ paint/leather and air-con are fairly common up-grades I think.I think TVR dealers must be making a lot of money out of air con because I wouldn't bother having it on a convertable.( not raining... roof off/light rain ...roof still off throwing it down ..roof on.)and apparently they are not too interested in 2nd Tams without air con.( even though its not a particulary effective system )Easy money..must be.I've also been pondering new/secondhand and different marques and can't decide. If I go with one it will probably be second hand and have i'll a 4ltr engine conversion done.Knowing that there is a bigger/quicker engine option bugs me and seeing as the factory doesn't do it it would mean buying secondhand.

Similar dilema except with a T350c, but as soon as you spec up the basic car it gets a bit silly, Im going 2nd hand + warrenty and add 2 years of TVR's warrenty.

Speak to Tvr centre at Barnet, they had a couple of cracking deals on new pre -specced Tamoras about a month ago, and the prices were eye opening in relation list.
