I don't own a garage and the Tam has to stay outside in the rain (seems to be constant in Nottingham!).

I keep getting very wet driver and sometimes passenger footwells if it rains very hard or I've been driving in heavy rain. I've taken it in to the garage for this before and the guy said the seals had slipped around and the rain water was running down the doors and pooring into the car. I guess this has happened again, I've tried to see where this could be happening but haven't had any joy. The most moisture seems to be under the metal plate near the accelerator pedal where the removable carpets push underneath but it does get all along the edges of the footwell.

Does everybody get this problem? Is there a quick fix that I can do?

While I'm at it maybe some of you TVR experts might be able to help out with some more problems I'm having. The digital display is pretty knackered and varying amounts of the screen lights up each time I start the engine, is there anyway of getting it to work again or is it a matter of a new display?

And finally, probably most crucially, the engine is starting to play up. In 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear when the engine is revving between 1,000 and 2,000 revs it sometimes feels as though it is misfiring, stuttering and wont pull away smoothly (not yet stalled on me). Is this likely to be water in the engine? Or do you recommend immediate specialist attention.

Thanks in advance

Our new Tamora has 2 of the problems you have mentioned. Our dealer is looking at identical water ingress issues as we speak.

Secondly we have a similar issue with the stutter. Ours was purely at 2K miles. As soon as the dealer heard this they basically said don't woory the car engine is out of balance and as part of the 1K service it will be tuned after the tappets are set to eliminate the problem.

My Tam has been letting in rainwater thru gaps round the window seal. The dealer is reallinging the window to fix this. I also get ingress after refitting the roof panel as the rubber seals tend to fold under the pressure of the roof. Not too impressed to be honest as the old Chim was dry as a bone up top.
David Gerald and I would guess most dealers, seem to have a good idea of the main leakage culprits.

I got rid of mine because of the leaking and a few other issues. I had two and they both leaked ... after the dealer totally ed the first one trying to fix the leak I had the second one and when that continued to leak despite attention called it a day. Shame really.

My Chimaera leaked to start with but that was fixable and the car sat outside in all weather totally dry inside. The A frame window on the Chimaera seemed to work better, but the totally frameless Tamora window and the usless rubber seals mean it simply isn't a wet weather car, in my opinion.

I had a Chimaera cover that nearly fitted the Tamora and I left mine under that when it looked like rain ... not much use at work though, or if it rains on the move, or in this country I guess!!

Easy fix - my first Tamora suffered with this - the problem is that rain runs down under the door seal and gets into the footwell at the bottom front coner of the door apeture. The cure is to run a bead of silicone sealant all the way down the door seal where it overlaps the fibreglass lip of the door apeture, from the top of the screen rail to the bottom of the apeture. That should sort it!

I've not had any issues with water ingress. Maybe they've sorted this with the 2005 model?

May be an element of pot luck. Mine's an '03, and is never garaged and has never leaked.

ceecee you may be interested to hear that the leaks in our footwells were from area where the door meets the rear section of roof.

Thanks guys

I'll give the silicone sealant a go this weekend and am trying to get it into TMS for a look at the engine problem. Fingers crossed!

Nubbin,

I have the same problem with my 350c. If i have understood correctly, the bead of silicone is around the external side of what is effectively a U-section of the door seal that pushes onto the bodywork? I guess this prevents water from getting in behind the seal?

Any chance of a pic if I am wrong?

I'm still not understanding this so I second a pic or two.
