Drivers door mirror glass
Discussion
Just posting this to help others. I needed to replace my drivers door wing mirror glass. On the advise of others I bought from Ebay a glass described as "Right Driver side wing mirror glass for Volkswagen Corrado 88-95 heated" for £11.99. When I removed mine (it popped out using a trim tool and a little force) I found the backing plate was different and it new mirror glass would not fit into the sag mirror housing.
I found an old pistonheads post from 2013 ( https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... ) with exactly this problem. It suggested to carefully peel off the backing plate and replace the Corrado glass backing plate with the sag one. I did this and glued the backing plate back on. Note you also have to open up the hole for the electrical connections with a dremel. The Corrado glass I bought was flat and fitted perfectly onto the sag backing plate. This whole process was a lot easier than expected.
Thank goodness for this forum, as I may not had the confidence to do this without this advice; being too worried I would break the mirror glass.
