Was looking at RS's a year ago, at the time they were being sold for £90k+ :yikes:

Bought one yesterday, am collecting tomorrow. :D

Car is an 04, fully loaded, xenons, full colour coded roll cage, colour coded center console, etc.

Will have to see, how it compares with the Saggy Arse..

Cheers

time will tell..

Sag is really running well, def best TVR I've owned..
As quick as my Cerbie 4.5, but with the handling and balance of a GT3.

Will be interesting to compare both cars together, they are similar in ideology.!

I dont get it.
Sorry I just dont.

I love RS Porkas, I really do. I regard the 993RS as quite probably the greatest sports car ever built. If I could justify spending £60k for a 10yr old car I would.

Wtf hell were Porsche on when they came up with the 996Gt3 RS? Oh, money spinning of course, that's what they were on! If for one tiny tiny minute anybody actually thinks Porsche made the GT3 RS to make a "sports car" then they seriously naive. if Porsche wanted to make an RS 996, they would have just done it the first time when they had the chance, but no, they created the GT3. Heavier, different concept completely. They sold a shedload of them. Wow, thought Porsche, *and* they still want an RS! Hold on, says one of the accountants, we said we werent going to make an RS, cos well frankly it was easier and cheaper to make a GT3 and command a high premium price, we've worked that, yet still they want *another* high premium hardcore 911, so we can make an RS *and* the Gt3, sell shedloads of them both and make more money! F*cking A ! Hey, says another German accountant, lets sell them in '73 RS colours only! Wow, retro RS chic cool, says another! Can we justify that to stick another extra grand or so of euros on the sticker price? Yep, says the original guy. Kewl, says the 2nd one, lets do it!

It is tacky. It is singularly devoid of imagination. It looks frugly. It is a cash cow.

Oh it goes ok, they took a Gt3, lightened it and gave it a bit more poke and shoved the PCCB on, it was always going to be a decent dynamic car. That, however, is completely the opposite of the point of an RS.

The Porsche GT3 RS, a car I completely loathe more than all others. Even more than I loathe the GT3 (the car when Porsche sold out) and the 360 (the car when Ferrari finally sold out) and that dog ugly Fiat ppl carrier thing and the extended Toyota Yaris that looks so horrendous.

Anybody who bought a Gt3 RS...you should be ashamed of yourselves. You didnt buy a sportscar, you bought a mythe. You bought a con. You bought a cash cow. You bought a 3 series,5 series, C class, S class. You bought.....

an accountants car.

Sell it and buy a proper Porsche RS, a 993.

Been out in one of these on the track, truely phnominal round the bends, really was, but top end was limited to 173. As I recall they have 380 BHP, and the comparison to a TVR is light and day really...

DJC....Harsh.

Never driven one but suspect they are exceedingly good cars. I for one would love to have one of these in my garage.

And if I didn't like it I'd respect other people's opinions and choices.

They needed a road car to homologate the RSR le mans entry (things like suspension pick up points are different for example) and the result is the GT3 RS so to say it isn't a sportscar when it's reason for being is motorsport homologation is slightly mad

I have driven one. Ive driven a '73 RS (Touring), a CS (no not a 968, a 911), a 964RS, a 993RS, a Gt3 and a GT3 RS.

I do like the way you all missed the pt though. I didnt bash the car one little bit as regards driving it. It drives like an RS, its fast, fun, etc. That isnt my bitch against it. My bitch against it, is why they exist

I know the homologation story Nathan. It's reason for being though isnt homologation. A convenient excuse maybe, but it is not it's raison d'etre. Sorry but the GT3 and GT3 RS were conceived and executed purely in the spirit of cash.

So Ive got a Turbo on order instead. Given the 996TT was the best car Ive ever come across, Im betting the 997TT will reset the benchmark again. Ill give the Sagaris its due though, making me rethink the need to spend that amount of cash though.

The Turbo is crap on track compared with the GT3s though, more of a grand tourer than a car in the spirit of the GT3 & Sagaris, I can see why you'd compare a GT3 and a Sagaris but not Turbo and Sagaris.

I don't care what it's like to drive.

It's absolutely hideous.

And it has red wheels.

And you all know really it but you're seduced by the 'oh my God, it's an RS, its suuuch a pure sports car, sooooo much heritage, quite magnificent, amaaaaaazing engineering (er apart from the rear engine) ......'

It's like looking at a woman who reminds you of someone you used to fancy but is actually quite ugly and you only find that out the next morning in bed. Or in the garage in Kurgen's case.

Every road car, yes even 996 with as many R's and S's as you like after them are feeble on the track compared to a sorted Caterham or Radical. For crying out loud if you want a track car get a track car. The difference is staggering. The only advantage of this porker is the drive to and from the track. Once you're there you're seriously deluded if you think it's a great track car. It's merely OK for a road car.

Sorry if that crosses some sacred boundary for you lot but last time I looked this was a TVR forum.

Well, Kurgen, after all that.....

I, for one, would be very interested in your driving impressions of GT3 v Sagaris.
