Water Consumption
Discussion
Can someone tell me what water consumption we should have expereinced at this time of year and 750 miles.
The car had it's 1K service a week last Thursday so we thought we should check the water level (not something we did in the first 1K because of a dodgy bonnet catch).
I sadly didn't measure the amount of water in the jug that I used to fill it but I would guess it was a good 40mm below the level it should be at.
Does that sound excessive or about right?

My T350C used to blow a little water out the top of the expansion bottle up to the 1st 1k service, though I was probably filling it too high (ie above 3/4 full). Since the service upto ~2K miles its used some water but I suspect it needed bleeding as the level was a little low post service, just covering the bottom of the expansion bottle. Since 2~2.5K miles its used no water with the expansion bottle remaining at just under 1/2 full. I've now got 3.5K miles on it and I check it before each major drive. Note it should be easy to spot if its blowing out the top of the expansion bottle as the antifreeze will stain the alloy.
Nope it's not blowing out of the top, the alloy bottle was very clean. I know I was told to check it every week (as does the handbook) and this is the first time I have looked.
Will keep an eye on it this week and see what it is like. Looks like I am going to have to get some Antifreeze for topping up as I only had plain water today.
Just wondering if it could be that the dealer didnt check the water level at the 1K service. At a guess I would say I added 1/4 ti 1/2 a litre of water.

I worried about exactly the same thing but it was me-just too busy on a run of weekends to check it. Got a big fright when water temperature stated to get very high and oil temp seemed to rise quicly as well- 8 miles would have water temp over 110.....ULP
Checked the water and the expansion tank was dry. Topped it up to the right level and have kept and eye on it since-been behaving nicely now its being looked after-I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Celticpilgrim has driven it today (approx 60 miles) and the level has dropped again.
Car is going into the garage next week to have a footwell leak looked at so I will get it looked at.
The car does normally seam to run warm. (95-98) although never over 100. On a good run with air flowing through the vents it is usually 85-89.
