I'm thinking of putting some 19" wheels on my imminent Sagaris, and wondered whether it was possible, and if so, what affect they would have?

I've been advised that if I do go for 19" wheels, I'll need lower profile tyres, but will that affect the ride, or only negligibly?

Any tips or anecdotes would be appreciated, because changing ain't cheap, and I'd like some impartial advice before I do.

I put 19" wheels on my t350, had to modify the wheel arches to fit them. on my older car it was fine, the handling was better than with the 18". When I movedthe wheels over onto my later car, the change wasnt as successful.

TVR have updated the chassis over time and the handling is better with the 18" wheels. (Edited to say this is also due to having the redrose conversion on my car. the suspension is stiffer)

The wheels I fitted were with slightly different offsets as the one TVR use are hard to find on the market, your best bet if you really are going to change is to look at the wheels TVR power are now selling.

Hope this helps,

Same story with mine. They rubbed on the arches had the car back to the factory to work on them and finally had the wheels altered slightly now they are fine. They have not effected the handling or ride but it tramlines a little bit on motorways. They were expensive but I like the look of them and it's nice to have something different from the original wheels.

Presumably the bigger wheels only cause a problem if the tyres are not adjusted commensurately? Is a lower profile tyre necessary because the wheel is bigger? And is this what causes the potential change in handling and ride?

I think you may find its also that you cannot find the right dimension tyres, On mine, they are all a bit larger on rolling radius even though they are the smallest tyres available.

If you do fit new wheels on a later car, be ready to have to either play with the suspension and definitely with the geometry.

If you put 19's on you Sagaris you will only be able to go in straight lines. The show car with 19's was just for show. The Sagaris has completely different inner arches to the t350 and was designed around 18's with 3mm clearance on full bump.
