t350 sprays petrol into the face of my 3y old
Discussion
got a T350 courtesy car.
Daddy whats that he says pointing to the pertol filler
I show him what it does and as I open it
sprays petrol into his face (and mine)
lot's tears but thankfully no permanent damage
is this a common problem
anybody ever told TVR
had he been injured they would be on the receiving end of my solicitors now

Mine does that too, strangly enough its worse when the tank is nealy empty, don't ask me why that is???
Dave
The tank is near the exhaust, it heats the air inside and creates high pressure. Most dealers advise you of this when you buy a car and most probably should have informed about this. Still, the car has been out 3 years and the problem still stands?!?
Depends whether its viewed as a defect or a "quirk" of the vehicle.
Example, back when I was with Ford, constant complaints were recieved about the Puma's hatch depositing water into the boot when opened and wet. They tried revised gas rams to slow opening and allow it to drain, then decided "it does that, its not a fault with the vehicle".
So long as your aware of something and able to take reasonable precaustions (why would anyone need to open the fuel filler when the tank is full?) then perhaps simply stating "it does that" rather than a potentially expensive fix is the right option.
Its a TVR - Insane Ferrari humbling performance for the price of a well specced 3 series. It is however NOT a 3 series and wont have the same development and testing behind it - nor some of the quality.
Yes its a potentially dangerous ocurrence, however its going to be a right nightmare to fix...

Quirks and all the odd things TVR's do I accept. I bought one in the knowledge of this and don't complain
However spraying petrol 2-3 feet is exceptionally dangerous.
You open the cap with due care and attention
However nobody would anticipate this sort of thing to happen, all it would take is a spark of static from all that plastic and it's bonfire time

Presumably the Sagaris bonnet flying off at high speed is a "quirk"

"Sorry about your blinded young child Sir, we were aware of the fault but it would have been a right nightmare to fix"... come off it
The Petrol Filler was also an issue on my T350 - in fact the first one that got me (30 minutes after I handed over the cash I got a good soaking in a M'Way Service Station). I can't believe they haven't sorted it out by now as it is an exceptionally dangerous fault. My solution now is to get half a roll of Andrex before I open the filler and cover the opening with it - seems to do the trick but you look a right t** !
