Insurance is due next week. Direct line require a tracker now for the Sagaris(didnt need it for the Cerb somehow). QUote was 600 squid but dont fancy getting a tracker fitted.

Any companies to reccomend that dont require the tracker.

Thanks,
Jamster

I wasn't too bothered about the Cerb or the Chim, but the 'Gris came with tracker. When the car went for 6K service, it was picked up by trailer. Before it had left the drive I had a call at work from Tracker to ask if I was aware the car was being moved.
Even with a secure property, and the car being pretty unique, feel a lot happier with the tracker - only £109 renewal for a 60k car. Not bothered.

The big problem I have with trackers is if my car was to get stolen I wouldn't want it back. Lets face it, it's unlikely to have been driven with respect (warmed up properly etc)! You could try NU......they didn't require one for my CSL when Directline/Tescos etc all did.

50 squid discount on my last car that had a tracker and like topboss said who the fu*k wonts there car back after 24 hrs of abuse, i hate the bloody thought of them unless it gave a genuine dicount but a lot of company's wont cover without them, wonder when the police will start using them to detect your speed, i no its a confidentaul cleint thingy but at any time of day they can look at your car and tell wot speed your doing!

Is the requirement for a tracker something to do with the car being worth over £50k? I know insurance drops a lot when the car is worth under 30k/20k and so on.

If so, how about saying the value of the car is £49,995.

Aon don't require a Tracker either for my Sag, though my old company Heritage/Norton did want one (though not for the Tuscan).

I'm with Sunninghill with our Sagaris and they most certainly do ask for one.
The insurance is with Chaucer who catagorically refused to insure the car for theft until one was fitted and it HAD to be a catagory 5 tracker.

We got our Sag in May and Cat 5 trackers were few and far between.....
Not only that, as the tracker 5 was new out there were not many engineers qualified to fit them....so we were uninsured for a week for theft until an engineer could get to use.

We bought a Cat 5 from Tracker.co.uk and we are well pleased with it.
It was set a little sensitive at first so I got to know all the guys on the 24 hour desk by first name

But it's fine now.

When we were having problems with the sensitivity we were on our way to Harwich and the 24 hour desk phoned my mobile..."Are you with the Sagaris Pauline?"
"Yep...no problem....why?"
"Because you are approaching a port and I wanted to check that you have the car"

to Tracker.

Hi,

Hope you don't mind me popping over from the dark (Noble) side!

Try a company called Autotorque (www.autotorque.co.uk or 0161 611 8644) and speak to Chris Jordan. I've sent quite a few of our owners to them, plus a couple of Sagaris owners, too, and they always seem to deliver highly competitive quotes - with or without Trackers.

We have no link with Autotorque, so this is just a suggestion...

Also try MSM Insurance, they'll cover the Sagaris without a tracker. For me to swop over from the Ultima to the Sagaris it's an extra £50.

No mention of a tracker either, even though I will fit one once I get a car!!

thanks for all the replies. I'll try all those companies and also try the 49995 value to see if it makes a difference with direct line.

CHeers!
Jamster.

PS Had the car for 3 weeks now. Still on my first tank of petrol!!! To busy with work to feckin drive it at the moment. It's gonna take me a year to get the 2K miles on it to have some fun :-(
