Changed my 4.5 Cerb for a T350C
Discussion
Hello everybody, I have recently part exchanged my 4.5 Lightweight TVR Cerbera @ Henley Heritage for a newer Spectre Flair T350C.
The car has just had a full engine rebuild under warauntee but when i drove it home (around 200mile), steam was coming from the engine and the water temperature was around 100c.
I parked it up over night just to cool down, thinking it had a hard day, the next day i topped the water up (50/50 with coolant as explained in the manual) then a few hours later i returned to the lock up where the car was being stored expecting to go for my first local drive, I reversed out of the shed to realise there was water dripping from under the car, so badly that the water line was a solid one, not made up of drips every so often.
As it was a Sunday I couldnt contact Henley Heritage until Monday morning, they said the car hads to go back Thursday for them to have a look, i expressed my concern and demanded a courtesy car, expecting at least the little VX220 they have in stock, the chap said i would be having a little run around
. He said the problem is probably just a loose water pipe or something minor, so why they pulling the car all the way back to the work shop?
Any way if the problem is minor the Lorry is booked to return the car to me friday evening and hopefully I can start enjoying my new car.
So what are your opineons on the T350C? The difference between my old 4.5 Cerb and this were noticable instantly, like chalk & cheese, when i went to pull away from the showroom i was revving the engine like nothing else as the throttle sensitivity is 50 times more than on the Cerb, this was the 1st thing.
The reason i wanted to change the cars is for my Dad as the 350c is apparantley easier to drive and my Dad kindly named my Cerb "The thing", the car being easier to drive was true, everything about it was easy, Lighter steering, Clutch, Throttle, Gearbox, better Lock, easier to refuel, better visual out of the drivers seat, easier to start, etc.
The T350C is slower than the 4.5 but just from driving her for an hour or two saturday afternoon i think I will love this much more than my old Cerbera which i Loved even with its hundreds of bad points
So whats you opineons on the T350C? Problems you have had? Worth while upgrades that could be made etc. Also has anyone else made the change from a Cerb to a T350C

The leak does sound like a loose hose/connection if its leaking that quickly. But better to be safe than sorry and try to drive the car, especially if the water falls out of the engine after a mile!
I've not owned a Cerbera, but I do like them. Lovely noise too. Thing is, the T350 is a more modern design and like you say much easier to drive. No problems being stuck in a traffic jam in a T350 (overheating permitting in your case).
Has the engine been run in since rebuild? Treat it gently now!

The one I had is exactly the same as the one on their website, however that one was a targa and i preffered the coupe, my coupe never did feature on the website, they still have that Targa now - treat your self
Well I spoke to the mechanic from Henleys today and the truck is coming to collect the car 1st thing in the morning so fingers crossed its just a little problem and the car will be back Friday.
As for sitting in Traffic in a Cerby, all i can say is "Nightmare" - the clutch on a cerbera is alot lot heavier and after driving it in traffic for around 20 minutes your foot actually starts to hurt from pushing the clutch....as for over heating, my cerby over heated, 1st day, on the way back from Henleys actually hmmm, im sure the poor TVR's dont want to live in South Wales lol.

What "run arround" did you have? I have just returned the Perodua Kalisa they lent me while my Cerb was in for yet another starter motor (which is already failing again) to them and boy, run arround is right! The worst car I have ever driven! I live in West Wales and motorway work is not its strong point. I was a little horrified when it turned up, when you work hard to pay for and run your TVR, you would expect somthing a little better? I did have tuscan from them last breakdown, but I had been whithout the car for some time at that stage.
Just incase anyone has had the good fortune to have not seen one, I hadnt! lol You have to imagine it in two tone burgandy and black with the added "benifit" of an auto box'

LOL, Chan got me the new Jeromey Clarkson DVD for my birthday, and that was the car the bought brand new and then whacked it with a sledge hammer outside the dealers! Worth the money for the DVD just to see that!

Must get that DVD, just to cheer me up!
I went from a Tuscan S to a Cerb in prefferance to a MII S. Much better car all round, found out at the weekend that it has Nitrons too, goes some way to explaing the fantastic handling, now if only the starter would work for more than 20 turns!

Well I am actually In university till 2m night so I dont actually know what the car they gave me is, my Dad was so horrified he didnt even give the car a second glance, just lef it where the lorry dropped it off. All my dad said was "They have taken your TVR and left you with something that resmbles sooties old motor home & if you think im driving it your sadly mistaken", after explaining it in detail im pretty sure it is a fantastic "www.allmocar.at/bilder/wagonr07.jpg" lol.
When my Cerb broke down after about 30 minutes of purchasing it at least they gave me a 4.0 Chim to get home, I had the t350 2 hours and it broke down and they have the cheak 2 send me that, i was telling my friends it would at least be the Lotus elise they got for sale - how wrong i was lol, it makes the Elise look like an Enzo !

Ironically as i finished submiting my last post, Richard of Henley's rung me with some very good news, he said the car has been fixed, he said the problem was basically that a water hose had split and the leak was actually severe, therefore he was happy it came back even though the problem was easy to fix he then stated that it could have been alot worse. I also had problems with my passenger side rear window, basically it wernt attached to the car to well, that has also been fixed and the car should be back with me within 24 hours of collection, so not including the hideous courtesy car the service provided has been pretty much excellent.
