After counting down the hours Saturday finally arrived. At 6.00am, the wake-up alarm wasn't required, I set off to my nearest train station. Mission - Get on train in Hull, change at Doncaster, change at Birmingham, finally to Redditch. Four hours of aniticipation, mostly excitement, partly a bit apprehensive in carrying a large bankers draft for a TVR!!
I've had a fantastic history with some stunning cars (NSX, EVO6, CSL etc) but never committed to a TVR mainly due to reliability concerns. I was also a bit concerned with the recent EVO article (always respect their journalism) and started to regret my decision to buy a Sagaris over a Porsche GT3 (Mk1).
Anyway my car is a May 2005 Sagaris Iced Titannium (Pearl) with Anthracite/Parchmont leather + carbon inserts - absolutely stunning!. It has covered only 2000 miles, with the previous owner turning to an BMW M6! Dealership is David Gerald TVR of Inkberrow and to date they have been excellent, although they did repeatedly imply that TVR's are not BMW's / Porsche's so extra care will be needed. I spent over an hour been shown around the car and started to get a bit overloaded with data. I'll be honest most of the time I spent looking for problems and niggles, typical ex BMW driver!!.
Finally cheque handed over and I was squeezed into the car. Right are the indicators working, what are these uncomfortable seats like, has mine got the throttle restricted, will the heaters work, will it stall etc. I think you are getting the picture. I turn the key, remember to press the immobilise and it starts. Wow, it sounds hornier than last time, I think it must if been warmed up on the test drive. I nervously edge out of the garage and troll through the village. Pass three pedestirans and yes, they all look back. The amount of head turning reminds be of the NSX. I keep the revs under 4000 for about 20 miles with the plan that when I'm within 1 hour of home (2.5 hr joruney) I will start to test it and if it breaks it should be easier to get back!!
Well as soon as I get onto the M42, off I go, not a single hitch or rattle. I turn off for fuel partly thinking will it start again, will the doors open! I'm not normally of nervous disposition!
The following 1-2 hours is absolutely heaven. The weather is great I get acquainted with the controls and now start searching off motorway bits to feel the handling. The A-roads are very dirty and I want this car clean when I get home so off back to the motorway. Finally I get home and to my surprise the wife actually tells me she likes it, but will leave the driving to me - don't worry luv, I wasn't offering you the keys.
In conclusion my first day may have started a little unsure as what to expect but I write this report with a big grin. I can report no faults, no rattles and superb engine response-a very linear power band, it feel like 400BHP in comparison to the 360 BHP CSL I recently sold and I love it. Please God, make tomorrow dry, I want to have some fun without it getting caked in muck. Pictures will follow when it's bright enough.

Please can we not compare a Sagaris to some overweight BMW with 2 seats too many?

Enjoy the Sagaris, life will start to look a lot different after you hit about 4500rpm in 2nd with your right foot nailed to the floor.

P.S. try not to swear when it hits 7k rpm.
P.P.S the rear end goes sideways when you hit about 4krpm in the damp in 2nd.

I was enjoying your write up until I got to that bit.........

You know, us girlies can handle a Sagaris you know......
I find it soooo much easier to drive than the Cerbera.........

And there are definite advantages to having your other half drive.....
For one, you get to see more of the reactions from people, you get to talk to more people in petrol stations and you get to wind down the window and answer the questions people yell to you about the car when in town.

Congratulations.....
I can remember the first drive home.
It's true, whilst we love our TVrs Ray and I expected strange things to happen on the way home.
Everything was put on, twizled, and checked and ....low and behold, everything worked just fine....

You may have a few niggles with her to come, but, believe me they will be forgiven because the Sagaris is just sooo damn good.

Hope you get hours of continued joy driving it....it gets sooo much better when it's run in

Like you Sagman I was hoping to pick my new Sagaris up on Saturday. Sadly the dealer is still waiting for some paperwork or something from Blackpool to arrive before i can take delivery.

I'll drive down to bloody Blackpool myself and get it if it's not arrived by Monday !

Glad you like Saggy.
