Chaps,

I know a few of you have the Pioneer AVIC X1-R installed in your Tams. Have just purchased one for mine, along with i Pod interface.

Can anyone tell me wher they have mounted the hideaway unit?

Cheers,

Dunno, but its a cool piece of kit.

I've just installed a new head unit with both USB and SD card inputs on the front. Sounds OK too. So much nicer to be able to plug stuff in and not bother with CDs and cables.

I have one in my Sagaris and it's looks very cool and has lots of good features. Just remember to leave your car in 2nd gear. If you leave it in first the unit won't be able to shut properly.

Regarding my satellite aerial thing. Gatwick TVR locate them neatly just above the rear view mirror. It used to be out of sight but didn't work properly in that position.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

The aerial isn't a problem, it the hide away unit that i need to find a home for. (the 6" square box that has the guts of the system in it).

I think that i will need to mount it under the pasengers seat, but was worried that if i had any water leaks then it could get wet? Only other place was to go up inside the dash, but looks a little tight.

Under the seat is were mine is fitted. It needs to be
fixed firmly (and pointing in the right direction)as
any vibration of the unit affects the gyroscope inside
and will lead to calculation errors with the route.
As always I reccomend the voice activation pack for it
as it's only £30 and is very handy.

Yep, under the passenger seat also in my Sag. I also bought from China a small camera and fitted to the rear. So now when I put it in reverse the screen shows the rear of the car. Best £20 quid spent.

Just got back!
Mine is under the passenger dash, fixed in place to the chassis bars.
