Just over 2250 miles done in the Sagaris so far and up to 6000rpm. Just wondering what others have done regarding getting the car 'fully' run in. 3k miles before reaching 7000rpm? 4k miles before using the full range?

By the way what is the rev limit on these things, 7500 or 7800?

Cheers

erm lets say at least 7800. I thought 8000 is possible with the 3.6's revving just over that to 8200.

After 2000 miles it's a case of warm it up as always, make sure the temps are up to scratch (it says in the manual that you need over 80 degrees C of oil for over 7000 rpm) and extend it gradually towards 7 and beyond. If the car hasn't been over say 5000 revs yet then go straight to 5500 on the next run. Give it another 100 or 200 miles, then take it to 6000 and so on. It's up to you but it's either way it's time to party! That said it won't be easy at this time of year both for the temps and for traction reasons.

Enjoy.

I dont think Ive been above 7k rpm yet!

Im in "Ohhhhhhhh Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit" mode when the needle gets up there, my change up lights are blinking and everything else on the road is going backwards at a considerable rate of knots!

Thanks pits, I've been up to 6000rpm so far (change up lights seem to be set for this) but not very often - as you say traction at this time of year is not great. Interesting to hear about needing to have engine oil at 80 degrees C for over 7000rpm - think the hottest I've seen so far is 75 (usually around 60). Guess it's a matter of increasing the revs gradually to 7000rpm over the next 750-1000miles and leaving the 7000plus runs till spring/summer

Only up to 6k rpm meself, but I've been known to let a whoop of exhilaration leave my lips as I get there. God only knows what it's like at 8k!!!

Being a beautifully engineered race engine its linear pull means (unlike a turbo) it pulls even harder after 7000 than it did before. But the temp thing is important for high revs and yes you'll have a job to see it above 80 until the spring. Pootling in traffic helps though

More revs gets it hotter too. Not easy to get it hot this time of year. I think the rev limit is 8k
