Sag - pre-order jitters
Discussion
I have a couple of questions about the Sagaris and my mind won't be put to rest until I get some answers!
First of all, if I get one it'll be my only car and so as well as being damned good fun to just drive around it also needs to be somewhat practical in that I can still take it into a town centre and get it over speed bumps and so on. Someone else posted in this forum a comment along the lines of "What, you take your Sagaris to Tescos?" which worried me slightly.
The other big question is speed bumps. It looks to me like a car that's designed for a flat road, and it's virtually impossible for me to go anywhere where I live without encountering a speed bump, and I don't want to get half way down a one way street and then encounter a speed bump that's going to take off the front and rear spoilers! Has anyone had a problem with them?

I was a little worried abut speed bumps when I got mine. I don't seem to have any trouble with speed bumps (I take them very very slowly and at an angle)I have however grounded on a couple of motorways (usually at about 1.2 units
) Doen't seem to do much harm.
Could you not do what I have done, buy a £400 runner for day to day use? I park it at the station every day without any worries at all. Leaving the Saggy anywhere would worry me to death.

Speed Bumps... I drive into central London and have to go past the London Eye on the south bank towards the National Theater (where I park in the underground car park). There are about.. 20 speed bumps (honest)... and although I take it nice and slow (annoying all the taxi drivers
).. it has yet to ground out on me. I challenge anyone to find more speed bumps in less than half a mile (
).

).Neither provides a problem. I have used mine every day since picking up in mid-August, barring servicing.
Reliability is there, and is far easier to drive in town than the Chim or Cerb.
I have grounded out a few times, but as per others, usually an unexpected part of the road surface in country lanes etc.
Speed bumps etc - again, agree with above comments, take it slow, if they are bad take it at an angle: haven't yet been stopped.
You'll love the car - it is really difficult not to get in and drive!!

Thanks for the reassurance.
I love speed bumps in my Lotus, you can hit them at 30 no problem they're just a minor inconvenience. They had a Ferrari F40 in at JCT Leeds a couple of years ago and I swear without a word of a lie that the distance between the floor and the front spoiler was less than 2 inches. I know the Sag isn't that bad

I had an initial problem in my T350(100mm ground clearance)over the cushion type road humps. Approaching them with one wheel on top of the cushion and the other on the road did ground the car. I now approach these impediments square-on, both wheels equidistant over the hump which stopped the grounding

I said that..........
The Sagaris is an amazing TVR that attracts a HUGE amount of attention........HUGE!
It's TVRs new baby, until the Tusc Conv comes out and will naturally be an object of great interest for anyone with even a slightest hint of interest in cars.
For those real petrol heads it's worth crossing from one side of Tescos car park to the other just to get a closer look.
Thing is....you think in time the interest will wain, but judging by the amount of attention all TVRs get anywhere....that's not the case. Our Cerb attracted loads of attention all the time.
People just love TVRs and will make a point of going out of their way to get a good look at a TVR up close.
99 out of 100 people will be very careful up close..........they will respect the fact that it's someone elses pride and joy.
Occasionally, you get the odd one who does not, or, like I mentioned in the other thread, young boys on bikes who..bless them....really loved the car, asked lots of questions, very keen.... but just didn't even begin to realise the cost of a handlebar scratch on Midas Gold paintwork until it was pointed out to them.
To be fair, they immediately got off the bikes, laid them away from the car ....and then continued to bombard us with questions....
Speed bumps are not really a problem if you take them slowly as has been said.
We took the wrong turning in Hackney the other day, down into a one way street... (Big Mistake......BIG....BIG Mistake!)and were faced with the most gi-normous speed humps..
One look said we wouldn't get over them and Ray wasn't even going to attempt it...but bearing in mind we were in a one way with about 5 cars behind us...well..there wasn't too much choice...
The Sagaris was fine...taken slowly and pulling over to allow all the other cars to get passed....we did all 15 of them!!
That was the worst experience we've had with speed bumps to date.
