Just looking at buying a Video Camera for Xmas and while looking I thought it might be an idea to get a mount forit.

Has anyone with a Sagaris bought a mount that goes on the roll cage?

If not which one does everyone else use?

On a plus side I want to record my trip to the Le Mans Classic next year as a keep sake for my son.

Hi Mike,

You need something like this. It mounts to the screen rather than the rollcage but this has the advantage that you can mount it anywhere in/on the car.

Tis a good plan Michael! Only problem I've got is that I'll need to get a camcorder to go with it . Might have to treat myself to that one - well you only turn 30 once

Suction mounted things scare the cr*p out of me. I know they will hold quite a weight, but when things go wrong (and it is bulling 5G's) the last thing you need is a heavy camera flying about.

Same goes for bod holding it!

Don;t forget to get a Mic lead as you will not want the wind noise. They are cheap about £10 and get one with about 2 Metres of cable, that way you can get it down near the exhaust for those pops and bangs.

I use a Hitachi DVD Cam, good quality and only about £350. Light as well so will not come of and do much damage to car, but if it does come of will bugger the cam.

Also you will need a clear lens cover to protect the lens from flying stones or insects.

If you place it on the wing use some straps to the inside of the car to hold the cam and mount, saves it from being broken under the wheels if all goes wrong.

As you can see no research done at all.
Cheers

Great minds think alike

Looks like I'll end up going for the cheaper 20GB version, the JVC Everio GZ-MG20EK. Seen that knocking around for £350.

Spooky...........

And my son has just told me he knows how to edit and spruce up the films as he spends quite alot of time round his mates doing that sort of stuff.

Now I just need to tell the wife, I bought a car, ipod, tracker and now a camcorder
