As I recall there was a MIl light on the griffith - is it to do with the inertia cut-out switch or a general ECU fault. In answer to your "it doesn't seem to do much" you certainly don't want it to illuminate!

Isn't MIL normally "Malfunction Indicator Light" ?
Something to do with the immobiliser system IIRC (previous car).
When lit the car will keep going until you stop and turn off
the ignition, presumably to try to find out why the light is on !
(someone in car design clearly has an evil sense of humour )

You don't want it lit.

MIL is a malfunction indicator light. It means there is a problem and a code has been logged on the ECU, which can then be read to rectify the problem. The other light looks like a seat belt warning light, normally tells you that you havenot put your selt belt on. I have a Chim so not entirly sure.

I seem to remember something similar on my Chim - I think MIL is the fuel injection cut off that activates in an accident to stop fuel spraying everywhere. If it's lit you aint going nowhere! The other one is obviously seat belt related - does the Sag have pre-tensioners? (I'm guessing not knowing TVR )

MIL is as previously stated to indicate if an ECU fault code has been logged, probably something to do with emissions compliance for the future. I know that when they introduced euro3 compliance on the k series in the elise you could get MIL problems when you decatted them as the post cat lamda sensor logged a fault requiring the delaer to reset the ecu and clear the code.

No...we don't have those and...to be honest...I don't like them on there.
Surely they could have found somewhere else to put them....

Can you see those buttons/lights with the handbrake down or does it obscure the view?

Me neither - must be only the very latest cars that are getting them. No alloys stalks I noted either :-/ Nice leather combo though - matches the exterior well.

What about anthracites with the orange exterior though? Should be mandatory

Gary.

Quite the opposite Gary, I've got a MIL light on my '02 Tam.
As said earlier, it's for engine management fault.
I'm surprised you've got one on a Saggy though Witty, as all ecu faults are logged through the dash display.
I thought they stopped putting them (MIL) on last year...
ahhh TVR

Thanks for all the replies.
I have since found out that my car was originally built for shipment to South Africa. They must have certain rules that mandate these items on all their cars.

No surprisingly, I have since requested the dealer document any other differences, and give me some written reassurances from TVR that this is not going to affect the resale value.

Do TVR normally do this type of thing?
Should I be pissed off? (The car is nevertheless simply stunning)

I hear that a lot of cars in Serth Effrica have a flame-thrower system to ward off attackers, so maybe it's your "Mugger Incendiary Lighter" button? In other words - don't press it...
