If you have a root around on some of my posts you will find I asked a similar question when we bought our car. The system is a Meta one (Can't remember the model name/number - hence you will need to have a look at my posts). Your dealer is correct that it is a Thatcham 2, primarily because it hasn't been fitted by a Thatcham Approved Specialist.

Edited to say I found the post and it is a Meta M99T2 Alarm Control Unit with M36T2 immobiliser along with a M23A Microwave sensor. This information was taken from the post my dealer added in response to my original question.

Thanks guys - i knew i couldn't have been the first to ask this Q. I did do a search, but my browser just hung for ages and am in a bit of a hurry.

Top stuff, thanks again.

James.

Your insurer will also insist on a fitting certificate - these are available from your local dealer or the TVR factory.. or even the previous owner.

Hi - dealer can't give me one apparently.

How does one go about getting one from the factory?

I got a letter from the factory with my car docs, stating what alarm was fitted to the car. The idea being, you just forward this to your insurer and question resolved.

If you are struggling, i could fax you a copy.

Use an insurance company who are familiar with the car, such as the TVRCC insurer, A Manning, or Sunninghill. I've never needed any proof when insuring through these guys.
