My gear stick rattles while driving. Just beneath the knob, just where the leather gaiter starts there feels to be a shim of some kind that sist around the gear stick shaft. This is what's rattling. If I hold it between my fingers it stops buzzing.

ooeer! Just read this and it reads liem an extract from Hustler! Not that I read any such sort of publication

Anybody got any quick-fix ideas?

Cheers

I had this on mine, a rattle from the top of the stick. I can’t remember exactly what the parts look like, but you need to unscrew the top of the gear knob, then tighten the metal ring underneath it and then put the top back on again. Some adjustment and trial and error may be necessary to get the gears diagram on the top lined up properly.

There is a nut under the gear stick nob that sometimes comes a little loose. unscrew the nod, tighten up then the nutt and then put the nob back on, job should be fine

I think you might need Ian's patented wine cork fix....

I thought mine had the same problem, but when I looked closely it was the gearstick vibrating on my wedding ring – doh!

Good excuse to remove the ring though

I'll have poke around with my knob when I get the chance...never seem to manage it these days!

I shall also ensure that I drink a bottle of wine first as it will slow down the whole affair and I can enjoy my time with her a little more.

Thanks
