Hello

Had the Tamora for a month now and it's going well. A few rattles and the dash beeps me a warning every now and then but all the guages read A-OK and the engine seems fine.

My wife diod notice a small amount (read a few drops worth) of oil on the garage floor. Is this fairly normal? Could there be some excess oil finding its way out of the car and that I can drive on in confidence?

Is it worth taking the car all the way back to Castle for a full check?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Beno

I'd get it checked, but I'd suspect the oil pressure sensor. TVR have recently changed suppliers and the new ones are supposed to be much better. It's a relatively cheap part and doesn't take long to change.

I agree with deejay, a few oil drops on the gargae floor, from my experience, is to be expected. I used to worry though, and I did get the oil pressure sensor changed at an intrim service, didn't make any difference, so I had that replaced with another, which has been a little better - can't help thinking I was a little over zealous though, in wasting my money changing a perfectly good sensor due to the slightest of leaks!

It's quite common - mine leaked like a sive.. mates Tuscan could also be seen leaking from that sender.

Replacement part is about £16 but the new imported part is £52 .. apparently : no idea why it should be so expensive.

My dealer had a waiting list of people who wanted the new part and not the old in December - they may be available now.

The are not easy to get at - as they are under the air box.

As you have a leak - make sure you check the oil level more frequently.

I had one of the new type oil pressure sensors fitted last month, due to the orignal one having a slight leak and it is already U/S giving incorrect pressure readings. Several my dealer have fitted have gone the same ie giving lower pressure readings over a short period of time.I am now going to have a old style one re-fitted.

Yup, I've had about 3 oil pressure sensors changed, dealer seems have little confidence in them lasting any length of time, so hopefully it is just that. BUT it could be worse - my original oil leak turned out to be head gasket problems and imminent engine re-build, even though scavenge pump failure beat oil leak to it, so I would get it checked.

OK - Thanks All

As there are only a few drops on garage floor I will remain on guard and check the oil level regularly.

All the sensor readings on the dash read OK in all driving conditions so I'll keep a watching brief....No need to replace the sensor if that may cause more problems!

Thanks

Nick,

is it really the new type sensor because I'm still seeking some time to let mine fitted?
May be this weekend.

Hi Koen yes it was the new type of sensor,I don't think Marc has any more new sensors hence why I am having the old type fitted. The orignal one lasted five years before starting to leak and always gave accurate pressure measurements so hopefully I will get another good one.
