Buying new Tam; discounts available
Discussion
Following on from some threads I've sidelined a bit, I thought I'd open a new one.
Going down the road of a new Tam and I'm after a bit of haggling advice. I'm TVR naive, but do recognise that unlike mainstream cars you can't do a simple web trawl, come up with the best price and use it as a price-match bargaining point.
However, does anybody have any experience of getting a discount on a factory ordered model? I don't know if it is possible to expect, and if so what sort of figures. Also, if I buy from miles away does that mean that I have to go miles to get any warranty work done.
Any input very gratefully received.

Hi Lee,
Firstly despite what I have seen written on this forum regarding warranty work, you can take your car to any TVR dealer for warranty work. Obviously it is nice if you can take your car back to the selling dealer for such work, but not essential.
My dealer was actually the 5th closest to me, yet it went back to them for service and warranty work. Some of the dealers do have their own transporters and for a fee you can have them collect and deliver.

I would try and buy the car from the dealer you plan to use to look after it. TVR are rumoured to be a bit tight when it comes to paying dealers for warranty work and the dealer is likely (IMO) to look more kindly upon cars that he has sold and therefore made a profit on than those that have been purchased new elsewhere.

Hi, back to your original question about new car discounts.
I don't believe you can get any discount on a new car that you are speccing yourself.
The only way you'll be able to get a discount on a new car is to buy a dealer's stock car, ie. a car the dealer's specced himself and is having trouble selling. If it's a spec that you're happy with you can start haggling with the dealer.
Good luck.....
