Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience with a Tam in a multi-storey car park? The reason I ask is that my work is relocating into the centre of Manchester and my new car parking spot will be in multi-storey car park. So far I've had little trouble with grounding the front spoiler on speed bumps but have never taken the Tam up any kind of ramp. I should add the Tam is my daily driver.

Although I love the car dearly if I can't get it into the multi-storey then it might have to go. I did consider buying an old run around but that is not feasible for many reasons that I won't bore you with. I'm going to try the car-park tomorrow so wish me luck.

I have only tried a few car parks. IF you angle your approach it tends to get up without grounding. You can also ask a dealer to raise the suspension by around 1cm if necessary, which for me works as my garage is on a whacky angle.

I've had mine in a couple.

Wasn't a problem grounding (taking it very slow) but was awkward manouvering. Particularly when other poeple park within an inch of you and you need to do a 3 point to get round onto a ramp.

Sounds excellent in a car park, though

First 8 months I used mine every day, and parked in an NCP multi-storey, although I did choose the NCP which I thought had the widest ramps as the turning circle is so bad, sure it would be a real problem in some of Brighton's car parks!

No problems at all going up, never grounded it.

I do have to be careful coming down though, I just found that on one particular level, if I got it wrong, would slightly ground, but this was rare, and can't notice any damage from it.

So I'd say go and try out the car park first.

My only experience of a multi-storey was in Manchester, and going up was okay but coming down was hell... scraped the bottom of the front spoiler on every down ramp.

Phil,

Been in a couple in the TAM. One was Gartside st in Manchester, before they knocked it down. Grounding isn't a problem, it the turning circle that causes more problems.

Ground mine once on the down ramp. Second time, just eased down to the point it might ground, and took it very slowly. All was fine. The extra few mill that the nose is lowered while braking seemed to be the difference. It must be mighty close, but it doesn't ground!

Its the turning circle that gets me every time. Much worse than my old Chim.

Mine is used daily too and parked in many multi-storey car parks with out any trouble. Just take it easy on the ramps. It's not been raised at all.

Ramps going up are o.k. it's the going down that you have to watch.

I find getting around the corners usually the biggest problem.

I wouldn't dare take my 350 in a Multi-Storey. Grounding is likely to be a problem, but the tights turns on the way down would mean reversing all the time. Annoying for me, and the queue of traffic behind who don't expect cars in front to have to stop and reverse cos their turning circle is so bad!

Thanks for all the replies.

I tried the Tam in the multi-storey this morning. Going up was no problem. Coming down was abit more interesting but once I worked out how to exit the ramp things were fine. A couple of the turns were alittle tight and this might be compounded when the car park is full but all in all better than I expected. Our other car is a big Volvo estate so I suppose I've got used to cars with bad turning circles. Plus the Tam is a a good deal shorter than the Volvo. The acid test will come during the week when the car park is in full use and I have cars lined up behind me.

Let them wait, and they can just admire the wonderous rear end of the Tamora. Even better, get a sports exhaust fitted and deafen them!
