I've just had a crazy conversation with the bodyshop at Gorners. I had a slight prang before Xmas, nothing serious but i needed some work doing. My last conversation with Gorners a month ago was that they were just waiting for some parts.
Anyway, just spoke to them and they are now in administration. They no longer have my car, my insurance company picked it up and have took it elsewhere.
I'm actually very annoyed. Firstly, at Gorners for not telling me. And i'm really angry with my insurance company who picked my car up two weeks ago and have took it elsewhere without informing me!
Just got off the phone with the insurance company and apparently my car is at Christopher Neil's. What i'd like some help with is are Christopher Neil an approved TVR garage, last i remember they also stopped selling TVR's? More importantly, if they are no longer a TVR approved garage how does them doing the repairs affect my warranty?
I'm not the angry sort but i'm not happy. Any thoughts people? Above all I'm missing my car!!!

Chris Neil is no longer a TVR dealer.

I would be really too if this happened to me.

You don't say how old your car is and what warranty you have.

The new rules on servicing (and repairs?) is that any garage can perform this without warranty issues, so long as they follow the Manufactures schedule and use authorised parts.

I personally wouldn't have a problem using Chris Neil (I bought 2 cars from them and they did a rear body repair on the Tam). They will still know how to fix them!

Why not give them a ring and speak to the body shop and express your concerns and get reassurance from them - in writing if you feel the need.

At the end of the day, you want your car back asap.

Chris Neil great-bought loads from em, but stupid for not dealing with TVR. Service dept great.
Never trusted Gorners, so bought my Sag from Drivestyle. I'm such a good judge of character

Just to clarify, Gorners are in administration, not receivership.

Sorry Ted that's why I put the question mark. These words usually have significant legal implications the meanings of which i'm no expert.

Just to clarify, is this all of Gorners or just the body shop that is in administration? I was told that the body shop was a different concern?

Chris Neils are still approved to undertake servicing, parts and body repairs. I bought my Tam from CN's, found out it had already had a repair on the front, wasn't very good IMO, have since had it rectified by another dealer.

No problem Raja. Just means they can carry on trading whilst the accountants try and salvage what they can rather than closing the doors and flogging everything.

Not good. Christopher Neil have always been good with my cars but understand why you are angry - I would be too.

Glad you shared - my car is in there tomorrow. Will need to just make sure...

I like the chaps down there, so hope something survives.

Are they still carrying/selling stock or has it all been taken back to the factory?

Thought Gorners were only approved aftersales for Merc? they don't sell new Merc cars only Brabus converted?

This bad news for us locals. Always got top class service form them, hope they sort things out.

HL Gorners website says they are holding an 'event' this weekend. Something to do with getting a load of TVR demonstrators in to try & sell (30 cars).

Also does mention, in small print, on their home page about them being in administration.

HL Gorners website said:

TVR WINTER SALE (14th February 2006)

We're just getting things ready for our forthcoming TVR Spring Sales weekend. We’ve worked closely with the factory at Blackpool to prepare an additional selection of around a dozen of their demonstrators, courtesy and loan cars in addition to our own new and used car stock. With around 30 TVRs in the showroom, it must be one of the largest selections of used TVRs in the UK.

Is this normal - sounds like the factory are trying to off load a lot of stock?

I have had a very positive relationship with them. I believe Mike to be a top guy and the man reason why i bought the car from them and not elsewhere. Have had time to calm down, especially after reassurances that Christopher Neil are sound. Still reckon someone from gorners should have called me though.
I do very much hope they survive, was planning on buying my next one from them too.
