Looks like the best quote I can get for insurance on my Tam (when I get it) will be from Privilege. They want a Tracker fitted, which is not a surprise, but as I know nothing about these bits of kit I was wondering what the rest of the community have fitted. What's good, what's bad....what's the difference between the different makes/models etc?

I went for the Cobra Trak as it also covered Europe and I'm to France for the Classic in July (have I mentioned that before?).

I'm with Privilege also.

They didn't insist on a Tracker for mine (I may or may not have had one installed anyway BTW Mr local scrotes).

Ask them how many Tams have been stolen since 2002 when production started.

Good point Richard. I've only looked at online quote so far, so when before I actually sign up I'll call them.

I have heard that the stated value of a car can make the difference e.g. a £30,000 can requires a tracker but a car valued at £29,995 doesn't. Don't quote me on those figures, but it's worth checking what the threshold is.

Carl Baker (TVR Alarm God) has a tracker system he fits which doesn't have the downside of an expensive annual contract. Might be work a look.

Steve.

Thats interesting. Our Tamora was brand new and was valued at £37K but Privilege didn't want a tracker.

Hi Catherine.

I will check it out with them; it may just be something that they put on their online quotes as a standard requirement I guess, which might be negotiable. Did you get your quotes/policy online? I guess that they might have changed their conditions.

I'll post this on the TVRCC Insurance forum too to see if the resident expert can shed some light.

I think that I will too, whatever the insurance company requires.

Was this the one featured in Sprint, last one or the month before?
