When stood idleing, what RPM does your standard 3.6 Tam/T350 sit at when cold(oil temp 10C), and what RPM does it sit at when hot(oil temp 70C)?

TIA
Kevin

My Tam tends to struggle at idle when its cold, and is probably around 750, then 850-900 when its warm.

I have mine adjusted to 800-850 which means if the aircon is on its ok. The dealer always sets it higher (900) but are happy to adjust it down for me.

Thanks guys for your replies so far. My T350 has just come back from the dealers after having the cats checked(see another thread for details), exhaust taken off and re-fitted, and the engine re-setup due to it cutting out when cold and on idle.

When i start her up now on cold (oil below 10C) she idles at about 650rpm, then it increases to 1000 at aboout 40C oil, then when she is fully warm(oil at 60+C) it sits at 1100.

The engine is also warming up VERY quickly too(i preusme due to the new settings). The same journey that would get the oil temp from 10C>40C is now doing 10C>60C.

I understand these engines are not consistent and in this cold weather it's difficult to adjust it to get it spot on, but I presume that 1100rpm is not right? At this RPM and engine warming speed, I want to make sure it's not putting extra strain on the engine which needs to be protected when cold?

Cheers

Starting from cold mine struggles and is around 650rpm. Requires sitting around with foot on gas for a bit. When nice and warm idles at 800rpm

If i start it with any touch on the throttle it wont tick over when cold. If i start it without touching the throttle it idles at 1k cold. When warm about 800. I also let it tick over untill it stops being eratic before driving which is about 10c on the oil temp.

They do. The fuel management map compensates for this & many other variables.

Surprising range of rpm being reported. Mine's changed slightly after a service to 850rpm warm, around 900 cold. Seems smooth & happy at that.

Kev - sounds like it needs a bit of tweaking to get the cold idle and warm idle adjusted. The bugger is that the car needs to be cold before they can set it properly - otherwise they're just gussing by turning it up a bit.

650 / 700 cold
850 / 900 warm - 65 degs

Never have any problems with it starting, just turm key, don't touch throttle. I do find though that after 3k miles from a svc sometimes have to touch throttle to keep it running. Changing the plugs sorts this though.
