Got caught by a bloody irritating speed camera doing 43mph in a 30mph limit. Thought it was a 40mph limit, but was stunned as the effin camera flashed me. Not in my TVR though, but in my MR2.
I'm worried that this will affect my TVR insurance premiums. Well pissed off as I've had a clean license for 16 years.

So wiltshire can sleep safely in their beds tonight knowing that a criminal has been caught.

Sorry to hear that.

Got a Road Angel Compact recently. Quite discreet on the dash and much smaller than the original Road Angels. Spots the speed cameras and now has the added functionilty of telling you what the relating speed limit is. Nice to have an accurate digital GPS speed readout as well. Well worth the money.

I wouldn't worry to much - 3 points on your licence will not affect your premium. At least you'll get a nice pic of the MR2

The premium for my Golf GTI went up 50% after 3 points last year - and that was with the insurers that would insure me!

Strangely the TVR premium increased only slightly.

Got an additional 5 points hanging over me at the moment....God only knows what'll happen to my premiums if I'm nailed.

You can of course 'play the system' - lots do and seem to win.

Thats assuming you will get the picture through the post. Believe they have 14 days to serve the notice! I had 3 points on my clean licence a year or so ago, told insurance company, and they said wont effect premium, quote:" because so many people have got them".

Dont worry everyone will end up as criminals soon. Insurers dont even appear to load anything on for three points anymore.

Got caught twice last October by plod on A14 with nothing to do on a sleepy Sunday lunchtime and week later in Oxford coming out of 40mph into 30mph. Camera conveniently located 10 feet inside 30mph limit. Insurance just up £300. Thanks to all the boys in blue

Wiltshire are a shower of sh1te. Thank God Wingnut Clarke ruled that the government office boundaries had to be adhered to and we couldn't merge with them.

Most insurers do not care even if you have 2 hits. Millions of drivers are caught each year, it will not be long before we all have 6 or more points on our licenses.

It's a fact of life. Should not affect the insurance premium though. BTW I have 6 points and my insurance has been about the same for the last 6 years.

I'm not sure who insures your motor DVP but I got caught twice last year 43 in a 40 and 46 in a 40 in the missus's Focus. First set of points in 14 years of driving and my insurance for my Tuscan went up a whopping £350 on Direct-Line with 5Yrs no claims. Utter $hite I tell you (the law not your comment )

Although what an extremely convenient reason for the insurance companies to rake in more profits.....

That's exactly what Privilege did with my collegue - 3 points for being caught on camera and hey presto! a £40 hike in premium!
Not all insurance companies ignore the odd 3 points on your licence.

Bloody hell!
In the past 10 years I've had three speeding fines of three points and one 28-day ban and five points. None of which have affected my insurance at all.
Must admit that only one (Jan 2005) has been during my TVR ownership but Mannings and Sunninghill didn't seem to care. Just ensure you tell them the speeding code of SP30, SP50, etc.
Cheers..... Andrew
