Well had the car a week now and im still smiling like an idiot, use it everyday and have to say its a dream was a bit worried first time out in rain but treated her with respect and no worries at all give it a few weeks and i may get her over 4000 revs..
Anyway couple of questions.
the car is 2 yrs old to the day covered 6500 miles it had its 6k service done last dec when i got the car the owner said it was getting ready for the tappets being checked does this sound right? if so how much roughly?
Also ive spotted a cpl of drops of oil on the garage floor roughly where the diff would be is this a common thing or should i get it checked out?
oh and is there an easy way of checking the oil level can u pop the bonnet support off to get at it easier?

Thanx guys i know im being a pain and youve heard it all before

My Tam was leaking oil when I first purchased it. David Hendry Cars (TVR dealer) said it was the oil pressure sender unit, changed it, and the oil leak has stopped. Its only a 1/2 job and costs £36 for the part.

Checking the oil is a problem, but I find that unscrewing the oil cap is better done from the drivers side as you can get more leverage. Also I got one of those long funnels (from Halfords) so you can top the oil up without getting it all over the engine.

Or you can use a 25cl beer bottle to put the oil in. Wash it out and dry it first.

Much easier to aim than an oil container, and you know how much you are putting in each dose.

Unscrewing isn't particularly easy however you do it, but a thick gardening glove helps.

Theoretically the tappets are checked at 12k service which should be at 12k miles or 2 years. The 6k service should have been done at 6k miles or 12 months. (correct me if I wrong here).

The car is 2 years old without having a tappet check, not the end of the world as the engine does get more tapetty towards the 12 months. If you are in any doubt, take it to a dealer and ask.

Glad you are enjoying the car, I am so loving mine at the moment, now that the roads are a little dryer.
