Cracked the rear valance on the far left side/underneath of my T350. The 6" vertical edge that runs near under-side of the exhaust towards the front of the car. Hard to explain what I mean. The bit that you would scrape on the bottom if you reversed into a speed bump! (I split it on a track day though)

Anyway, cut a long story short. Drive carefully - A litre of paint costs £600 for Spectraflair Silver. So to fix it is gonna cost £750.

Dealer has been very good and got back to me quickly with costs etc. I've just got to sit and cry for a while before I book it in.

£600 a litre. I'm thinking of melting down the family silver and using that as the paint base. I think it would cost less!

Sh*t £600 a litre!!...............but Spectaflair silver is a stunning colour, I remember see-ing one at Henley Heritage last summer on a sunny day, the change in colours as you walked around the car was amazing.

Aha. You didnt buy the car new and spec the paint job yourself?
When your paint "option" costs £1500 and up, you know the stuff aint cheap!

I take your point, but it could just have been a money maker for TVR (like the Xenon light upgrades - 800+VAT from TVR, 495+VAT from Racing Green!)

Well it is a money maker per se...the fact you *have* to pay extra for any paint whatsoever p1sses me off, but then you have to be a bit naive to buy something from Blackpool and *not* expect to get shafted.

Not even Porsche have the balls to try that trick.

They ought to come with a cost warning when the car is new. "Crashing can damage your health."

Or................... crashing can damage your wallet

We specced ours from new and chose to have Spectraflair Silver.

I think its fair to say that if the paint option is that expensive then it figures that any work that requires respraying is also going to be very expensive.
