Sorry guys; I know there was a thread posted about this, but I can't find it! Maybe on General, but can't find it there either.

In preparation for ownership and prior to knocking up a carport/lean-to, timber garage (proper garage already in use) I've purchased a 2nd hand all weather car-cover.

The guy I bought from said he'd used it on his Tam with absolutely no problems, and I've no reason to not believe him.

However, I've noticed some postings that seem to indicate that there can be problems, affecting the finish to the paint. I'd be very grateful if anyone can enlighten me or give advice as I'm a great believer in prevention rather than cure...

I used a car cover for my Tuscan for nearly a year-just got one for my T350.Never had a problem-BUT-I never put it on a dirty car because I was afraid of scratches. The only problem with paint I have heard of was using a car cover on a recently resprayed car too early while the paint is still relavively soft.

Do yourself a favour and get a Carcoon For the winter and a light cover for summer, you wont look back..

Thanks for the replies Guys.

Looked into the carcoon Mark, but it's not really for me as I intend to be using the Tam all year round. I actually contacted them and they did not recommend me bothering to use one.

Good to know that you experienced no paint problems Steve; I'm hoping that this will only be temporary until I can beg my brother in law to come down to help me construct something to keep one of the cars in.

My T350C has lived under this Covercraft cover for the past seven months, except for weekend use without incident. Cover wasn't exactly cheap, but keeps it tucked up nicely. As others have stated, only put the cover on a clean car!

Thanks Darren. It's put my mind at reast. Now I only have the dilema of whether or not to drive for as long as I can, then leave the dirty car uncovered or cut short each drive to clean the car then cover it!!

Lee - have a look at

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=223165&r=2728617&hm=38660#2728617

which should settle your mind further. Have used my Covercraft Weathershield for a year now and has done exactly what it said on the tin. Biggest win - lack of sun/weather damage as the paintwork still looks in really decent order a year since I had it detailed.

Yeah, it has eased my nind further Craig - thanks.

Fingers crossed, I'll be collecting my Tam this weekend - and sadly needing the cover on Sunday when I go to Aberdeen for 3 days! Unless I can convince my lovely wife that it is more appropriate that I use the garage....
