Having read my T350 handbook I noticed that it mentions the alloy wheels should not be cleaned with any solvent wheel cleaning products. At the moment they are pristine but I'm sure that at some point in the future I will encounter some stubbon marks.

On all my previous cars I have used "Autoglym Clean Wheels" with no ill effects. Does anyone know if using this will be OK, why it is recommended not to use any products or indeed if anyone had had any problems with wheel cleaning products

Many thanks - Rippers

Rippers,
If your wheels are pristine at the moment, then give them a good clean, polish with a good quality polish, then wax, again with a good quality wax, this should protect them, and they should just need to be washed along with the car, and there should be no need to use any solvent/caustic based wheel cleaner on them.

I clean mine with p21 gel if I need to clean them as its ph neutral. I also just wash them with mothers car wash if necessary and a cloth.

Thanks for the reply's. Does anyone know WHY wheel cleaners are not recommended?

Has anyone used Autogyms Clean Wheels, if so any bad results.

Not planning to do anything drastic, just curious.

Cheers - Rippers

Maybe because if you use an abrasive cleaner and the wheels have a coat of lacer on them

I have used Autoglym Bike Spray to clean the wheels with no ill effects, because I thought the acid-based wheel cleaners were too aggressive and might corrode the wheels and hubs.

Suggest you clean the wheels once a week and don't wait until they are really filthy.
