Sagaris v Vanquish
Discussion
Oh I gotta have one!
I made the fatal mistake of test driving a Vanquish today, it felt just like a grown up Sagaris it was that bloody good. Sagaris is faster, handles better, quicker, flatter, etc but the ride on the Van is massively superior and the noise makes you want to lick it all over! A Van for crusing and a Gris for hooning might well be my perfect for garage!
And the Big Bad for playing Darth Vader!

I'm with you on this one. Aston for work/long distance/european trackdays & TVR for shorter fun trips & tracks is my choice, in a few years. Vantage is one for me though, shape & interior can't be bettered IMO, but needs more torque. I'm sure a Sport or R version will be along shortly to pit against the GT3

Why on earth have a Vantage when it basically does the same job as the Sagaris and the Sagaris is better car in every single respect? Its a bit of a no brainer, if the Vantage isnt even upto the job on a normal 911 S, then it isnt anywhere against a GT3 (spit) and the GT3 is definately a joke against a Sagaris. A Vanquish is just in a different league in terms of "Astonness."

Because IMO, different tools for different jobs. If Aston was mainly for road use with occasional Euro trackdays, even std Vantage delivers virtually same track performance as heavier Vanquish (see Evo) but with a good dollop of Aston luxury.
I would also expect 911-like long-distance durability.
For optimum track performance a Sagaris (or Noble/Marcos) would of course excel. Or a GT3RS, which I'm sure you won't dismiss as lightly as the GT3, unless you have no experience of it on track.

Well said young man.
100% spot on.
I do fancy a Vanquish myself though.
Anyone got 170K to lend me ???

Oh come on, be serious!
Whilst the TVR Saggy may not be a bad car, it is not even in the league below the Aston, yet alone the same league!!!
Some people do get a bit blinkered when they own a certain car!!!!
You dont know me (or my posts) very well if you think I am blinkered or biased towards the Sagaris, TVR in general or any car I have owned. Ill slate a car or praise it irrelevent of all other aspects. Pretty much everybody on here will tell you I think the steering on the Sagaris isnt that good, I am not a great fan of the rear end design, it lacks low down torque and the sound is ok, but only once you have it past about 6k rpm and it is shrieking, below that and it is rather boring. The Tamoras and T350s even more so.
There is *nothing* however a Vantage does that the Sagaris doesnt do better, apart from maybe the sound. Ill happily admit the Vanquish is a different ballgame, but the Vantage? No. Do I think TVR designed the Sagaris to be that good? Do I hell, Im utterly convinced it was largely down to luck the damn thing is so good, but that good it is.

I dont use my Sagaris on track, I never will, I only ever talk of it in terms of a roadcar. My points are *always* that the Sagaris is *that* good as a roadcar.
The GT3RS I have much less of an issue with...or I would do if it wasnt so bloody ugly and garish... than the GT3, on the grounds that it was the car the GT3 always should have been from the start. Porsche just wanted to make more money thats all.

DJC, sorry if I offended, I didn't quite mean it like it sounds. Of cource we all have different tatstes in cars or we would all buy the same one. I have a Vauxhall, so in theory, I should be the last to talk, except, pound for pound I believe I have the best car in the world!! It gets more looks that an Aston and huge performance compared to an Aston. But, erm, that's probably it!!
Cheers
Gerry
Fun swapping views DJC, opinions often going to differ!
My needs & therefore comparisons are skewed by visits to 'ring & occasional UK trackdays. You're in the right tool for the job you need, as the Sagaris was developed primarily as a road car, but the sharper-handling T350 was created as a track car
I'll find out which is best for the track when mine ventures into competition with uprated suspension & track tyres soon, where Sagarii are also out. Purely for my own curiosity.

Thats kewl
Im more than happy to change my opinions if I learn Im wrong. I loathed the 'gris when I first saw it and wasnt totally impressed by it on my first drive. I loathed the Vanquish ironically up until the DB9 and then the Vantage came out and to me the contrast between their pretty boy looks and the meaner stance of the Vanquish has more than helped the big bruiser.HUGE said:

....that'll be the Linn Hi-Fi then...
Given the lack of attention to ICE from TVR...an easy cheap shot
Well, it would be, except for the complaints against the Linn equipment in Astons and them switching to Alpine upon customer requests. Oh and ICE? I couldnt care less about, in house? Im a Kivor guy.

Thats like winning the lottery and never spending it ?
?Why?
If I wanted to go tracking Id just buy a cheap Caterham 7.
I prefer the GT abilities of the Sagaris.
