I got my Tamora a couple of months ago and can't get enough of it. I think one of the main reasons i love it sooo much is that my previous car was a Peugot 206 1.4GLX. Just wondering if anyone else has upgraded to a TVR from such a usless car?

I still have my MR2 (Mk2 P reg 168bhp). It is very reliable hairdressers assistant's car. It used to be fast (and probably still is) but when I drive it after driving the Tamora its like driving a bus.

The Tamora is many classes above the MR2 in performance, looks, ... everything really, (maybe even reliabilty - but I'm not sure about that yet)

Nope, came from a Chimaera which was chipped/quite healthy. Went from a 1.3 Shedscort temporary car to the Chimaera though - slightly slower.

Was out in the T350 yesterday - I think I'm getting used to all those horespower ... didn't feel fast enough. Mind you, the only place to really drive the car hard these days is on the track. Roads are too busy or plain dangerous for a fast TVR at full pelt (god I sound old).

I went from a Honda S2000 to a Sagaris which is quite a jump. And from DJC's point of view the Honda is indeed a very useless car. I rather liked it I have to say but the TVR has 150 more bhp, several hundred kg less and yet has much more predictable and progressive handling. Wierd.

Come from a 200+bhp (about 240 on paper) modified MX5. Only just got the Tam, and still running in so no real test of the power.

But moved the MX5 yesterday....my did it feel weird in comparison. All sort of un-focused, and where had the power gone?

Still, it does have a heated rear screen and a very easy to drop roof....

Mx5 - MG TF - Griff 4.3 - Sagaris.

Also was running a knackered 1.8diesel Fiesta until Jan this yr and we still run a little 1.4 Rover 200 for mundane lugging stuff.

The dude with the modified Mx5....sweet!!!! Im soooo tempted to get a proper H reg Mk1 and do the whole Jackson Racing thing on it.

Currently my Soooooo Tempted By.... garage is looking like:
Mk1 Mx5
Mk1 Exige
Vanquish
Vanquish S
Lwt air portable V8 Landie
997TT ... which scarily Im starting to ponder about whether I might want to turn into a GT2 order!

Alas, the budget doesnt stretch *that* far and I dont know which way to go. How ironic that the ones Im really tempted by the most are the cheapest?

Had a string of previous cars but the last was a Lotus Elise.

Not as quick as the 350 in a straight line, or as great sounding, but I still miss it !

I seem to remember you saying the following:

"The gt2 was a Godawful car until at least the Mk2 version of the 996. Even then it was still naff. It was a blunt instrument mascerading as a scalpel. In fact that pretty much sums up the GT3 aswell, they are both blunt instruments masquerading as scalpels, except the gt2 had more power. What the gt2 always should have been is what SCofM made it into."

Why the sudden change ?

Cos Im thinking if they make a 997 GT2 they might make it right this time? Just had a chat with my dealer about what I can do with the order because basically I havent a clue what I want to do with my cars at the moment. Not sure if I would rather delay that very expensive purchase for 12-18 months and buy something cheaper now and spend the money elsewhere ( fiance's choice) or to continue having fun whilst I can. Im basically weighing up my options.

I also came from an S2000, to a Tamora, and no way I would call it a useless car - the early models had twitchier behaviour, but with each revision this has gradually been ironed out, so the latest ones are apparently a lot more predictable. For a mainstream manufacturer roadster, I still think it is one of the best value and most fun packages available - the best gearshift I've ever used, an incredible engine, great looks IMO, a roof that drops in about 7 secs, and capable handling so long as treated with respect. Just a shame they never put the NSX motor in it, or produced a Type R version.

Tamora provided a suitably massive hike in performance, which was just what I wanted, along with a great soundtrack, fantastic interior, and reasonable practicality.

I second that about the S2000 with an NSX motor. But like lotus, Honda are totally tight arsed with bhp. Hence the move to TVR. A tamora has a ton more power and weighs a lot less than even the mythical NSX engined S2000 and I see the Sagaris as a 400bhp Exige (ie more power than the ahem 68k sport 350 Esprit) Personally I loved the waggy tail handling of the S2000 but it was less amusing in the wet. I had an S2 model and it was by no means 'ironed out' but great fun. And the engine was great if a bit raucous.

As for Hobo quoting DJC's comments from months or even years ago, get a life! Surely there's something more constructive you could be doing with your time?

I'd definitely be overlooking the current 997TT in favour of the GT2 which should be awesome if you can put up with the engine in the arse feeling, but be warned, 996GT2's depreciate far worse than standard TTs.

I came from a S2000 to the T350 and can only say that putting the power to one side, they are very similar driving experiences, which I found to be a great lurning curve for the Tiv. Both rear wheel drive, both no traction control, both very twitchy (i had a pre facelift 51 plate S2k which was much 'sportier) and both a hoot to drive.

The S2000 is an awesome bit of kit with one of the finest engines in teh world and a gearbox to die for! I do miss it, just a shame it didn't have more torque.

There's a theme here.

I went 2000 MX5 Icon, 97 1.4 Polo (for 4 months), then my bike for one month to the Tamora.

My mate Nick ZooOOM www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?h=0&memberId=42662 went from an S2000 to a Tamora, because he couldn't keep up around the Peak District

I tend not to declare what I upgraded from to a T350C, but you've trumped me there coming from a 1.4 Pug! I have owned three cars in my life, a Renault 11 1.1, Renault 19 16V and now my T350C.

My dealer recommended advanced driver training moving to a rear-driver so I did a Ride Drive UK course one month into ownership. Have to say it was well worth it, especially safely appreciating how easy it is to spin when provoked!

Long list over many years (getting very old and disgraceful). Last in the line was a beautiful little Elise T72 which is currently on sale again in the classified. Love the T350t but also still very much in love with the Alpine GTA Turbo which I will never part with

Do you miss your Elise GOM ???
How do you feel the 350 feels on the road compared to the Elise.
I've never been entirely happy with mine, but maybe we are just spoilt !

Hell yes, it was a lovely little motor - handled like a dream, but sadly very underpowered unlike the 240R which is an awesome machine. Found the T350 a little scarey at first, but dropped tyres to 24psi all round and made a world of difference. Have driven a T350 with Ohlins (sp?) and it was superb - next upgrade

Tell me more.
I have got a leaky damper and this might be the opportunity to sort out the handling.
