Reaching the end of my running in period and popped out today to have some fun. 4500-5000 rev's now allows me to blip up to 120ish, but I just noticed that from 105 up I was getting a knocking noise from the windscreen. First thought was that it was big raindrops or worse still small stones, but glancing over to the near side wiper I saw it was lifting, distorting and flapping against the glass.

I remember Mr Clarkson experiencing a similar problem with a Ferrari when we was zipping down through France. He had it taped up but this a) didn't solve the problem and b) subsequently broke the wiper arm when it automatically activated itself. Besides this I don't really want to turn my pristine Sag into the street equivalent of Jack Duckworth by taping up the blade.

Anyone else had this happen ? I notice my nearside blade does sit a bit higher on the screen than the driver side, which nestles down nicely behind the bonnet. Maybe it's one for the first service, which is conveniently now due.

One of our wipers was on the wrong place on the spindle and used to bang against the rubber windscreen surround.

Moving it took a couple of minutes and fixed the problem....

Same: caught on the windscreen rubber and contacted the upper edge of the bonnet/below the windscreen.
Both bonnets off, Alun bolt out, lift off arm, rotate two splines, back on and tested OK.

Thanks, think I have the opposite problem, i.e. the wiper is set too high rather than too low on the screen. But the remedy should be the same.

Cheers for the tip

Good to see you today David - did you see the biker pulling a wheelie at Hewitts Farm? He nearly went into a car that pulled out in front of him

Your car certainly attracted some attention at The Woodman

See you soon
