Private or public, track or roads, Uk or Germany/Continental, etc.

Just plain highest speeds, no need to say where and we can avoid legal implications.

Ive nudged 145 in mine. What I find remarkable is the harder you push her the more you really feel the downforce working, its quite addictive actually
Im sure there are probably the more hardcore track racers out there who have really ragged them down the straights or Satan Podded them or Vmax etc. so what have you got upto before hitting the anchors?

Oh and has anybody *really* hit the anchors hard from high speeds? Dont they bite well!?

I hit a very easy 145mph in Germany. There was plenty more to come, the mighty S6 just getting into it's stride in top...

I'm taking it to the Nurburgring at the weekend so I expect to see a bit more than that this time. I got an easy 170mph down the big straight on my Kawasaki, so I expect the Saggy to comfortably exceed 150. It's a monster straight. Failing that I've got the endless Kemmel straight at Spa Francorchamps to play with on Wednesday and Thursday.

But the rate these cars get past three figures when you let them rev through the gears is astounding. Blows me away every time.

Just wish my bonnet had a little more downforce! Hopefully Gatwick TVR will have sorted it by then, if not it could be bespoke carbon fibre bonnet time...

I’ve touched 160 a few times, but the speed of acceleration slows down quite a bit above 150 – probably due the gurney flap! My 3.6 Tuscan seemed quicker above 150.

NS told me he had 170 out of one of his and there was more to come if there’d been more road. Dom at Power said he saw 180 during one of the TVR Power European tours and that was about flat out.

Above 140 the access bonnet always flexes upwards as if it’s about to fly off. I’d be worried about it if you sustained 160+ for any length of time.

Mine will probably be limited to around 165 now after diff ratio swap, but thats probably enough for an old bloke.

Is that an expensive job to do, changing the diff, if you don't mind me asking?
I ask because I have a cr box, this isn't the original that came with the car from the factory (original was the normal gearbox), so I wonder if I now have the wrong diff ratios to take into account the ratios of the cr box. (it's bloody quick, but have always wondered if a diff change would make it even quicker)

Cheers

Ooh, I shall be at the 'ring myself this weekend, in m'little supercharged MX5. Any chance whatsoever of a ride round in your beast? You can enjoy a lap on my ticket if you like...

Hi Chris,
When I bought my Saggie thing, it had the standard final drive (27 mph/1000rpm) and the CR box was a reto-fit. This final drive does not allow you to exploit the CR gearbox to its true potential – worse so in the case of a car with a 3.6 engine. My T350 was the same so I speak from experience.

The change I made was to move to a diff shorter than what the factor fit to a car with a CR box. I have gone to a 3.9:1. Cost all up will be around the £1200 mark including labour (when the bill arrives......).

So far I’m pleased with the end result, but have yet to subject the car to any real work until the diff oil is changed in a other few hundred miles.

Thank you for your reply John
I may 'have to' get that done then, as I'm not really fussed about potential top speeds, I'd much prefer ratios I can use to full effect more of the time.

Of course Chris, you could have kept the standard gearbox then there wouldn't be a problem getting left behind everywhere in your 'weedy 3.6

BTW I'm praying for rain from now until late May

I hit 150mph in France once and the bonnet came off so I keep the speed down now.

Get more power to pull the ratios you've got already-4.0S.Then if it still doesnt have the acceleration you crave, you could change the diff ratio.Ideal cost effective opportunity coming up when you have your head work done

Hmmmmm

Good point! Never thought of that!

back to topic, although not a Sag, I have done 140 (then I got scared!), and a certain person has stated that he had mine up to almost 170 on a trip back from Le Mans!
