is it possible to retrofit factory fitted a/c to a 2003 Tamora (IYSWIM)? IF so what kind of cost is it?
Thanks

Graham - different car, but I got quoted £2k from the factory for retro-fitting to my Tuscan. Chose against in the end and not a big loss (top off as often as possible!).

looks like that's not gonna work then! I was looking at the nice Laser Blue Tamora at Racing Green, but it doesn't have the a/c, hence the question.

Do you know how long they've had it....

Hopefully not the same one (very similar spec) to the one that was there over a year ago.

I guess it might be dunno. It's on SOR. Having looked through the PH classifieds it's on there privately belonging to Mike Walker 9ad is 42 days old). It has a very tempting private sale price differential, but I really would like A/C!

I had a/c retro-fitted to my Tam by Dream Machines as part of the deal when buying, so couldn't tell you what they would ordinarily charge, although they did say they wouldn't want to do it again!

(Search) through other threads on air con in a Tam. I do not have it, never wanted it, never missed it. I swear by a/c in a tin-top but not in a convertible.

Some will agree with me, others will not but do not decide on a/c alone.

regards

As Steven says this has been a topic of discussion many times, and from what I recall of most of those threads, the people with a/c in their ragtops swear it is essential, the people without say it isn't.

I have it and wouldn't be without it

You need to decide whether the people without it are just trying to convince themselves they aren't missing out, or whether those with are just trying to convince themselves they haven't wasted their cash.

Have Air Con in my Xsara Picasso and never use it.
Never spec'd it for my T350t, and have never missed it.
Think it's a personal thing though, some want it some don't.
End of the day it's your cash.

I do not have A/C but in most Rag Tops when the roof is lowered the A/C automatically switches off.

Therefore the only use I can see of A/C in a Rag Top is to keep you warm in the winter, and the existing heating system will do this.

Air con in the Tam at no charge is easy lower the roof if hot, put it back up if cold.

My griff doesn't have it, but on a number of days, i really wish it did.

It must be said - AC is essential on speed 6 car's but if the
roof can come off then it will not be such a problem.

There is also scope to put more heat proof lagging around the gear stick area - this is when most of the heat soak happens in traffic jams.

Looks like the lack of AC should not put you off - if you can get the right deal (i.e 2K less than market price).
