Shift lights related to oil temp?
Discussion
I think I may have heard this mentioned before but wondered if it was actually true
I'm sure that my shift lights come on much earlier when the engine is cold - the few times when I have briefly touched 4000rpm when the engine is cold I'm fairly certain that at least 2 of the lights have come on, the first one at about 3500rpm. When fully warm the first one comes on at about 5500rpm if I remember rightly
Any one else experience this?

I have the same, was only telling the garage about it yesterday, its a sort of DONT blast it yet warning.
I think this happens with one of the lastest versions of the software for the LCD screen and yes it work off the oil temp. As pereviously stated its just a visual warning to stop your thrashing her before she is up to temp.
I have my shift lights set at green 6500 amber 6750 and red 7000.

mine definitely shows its shift lights earlier than I have set them until it's toasty warm.
But now we're coming into summer, I'd be setting those red shift lights higher than 7k! The charge to the redline on the Speed six is breathtaking and is where the engine does it's best work and is at it's most thrilling! And on a T350 you can rev to 8000, useful when you've got an M3 on your tail.

Most I've taken mine to is about 7200 - does the power not drop off after that?
Nope.
An in-line six design has the best natural engine balance (for revs) and 3.6 has a shorter stroke than the 4.0 which helps. Advice I had from factory was that it should be quite ok at these high revs when hot (hence the 8k rev limiter) but personally I still don't take it there too often.
The shiftlights on my Tamora are not connected with the oil temperature. I've aske three different places (factory, TVR Power & London TVR) if this can be changed (I'm told it's the same software version as the Sagaris, T350 and Tuscan2) and all have said they don't know anything about how to turn this on/off. If anyone knows please let me know (I'm sure there are others that would love to know too!).

On the rolling road we stopped measuring mine at just over 7,000rpm but the power and torque were holding firm (not really going up though either). I never take it about 7,000rpm on the road, maybe a few revs above that on the track. Might as well change up - 7,000rpm = over 80mph in second and 120odd in third (I think).

I'll try to be a bit more scientific in my tests next time, but I'm 99% certain they are not constant in mine

the manual does suggest a pretty high oil temp before 7k revs can be exceeded. It's either over 70 or 80 deg oil temp. Going by that it's definitely a summer only thing or maybe a quick squirt after being sat in traffic at other times of year. Lapping round a track will get the oil up to and over 80 as well. I haven't done it much due to the oil temp guidelines but I did it the other day and the extra urge over 7000 towards the 7800 limiter was gobsmacking! If anything the engine seemed to get smoother and the car just punted down the road at a hair raising rate! Sen-sational! That said I've yet to hit the limiter on my car so maybe there's a little bit more to come.
The power on my Tam and T350 (loan cars) definitely didn't tail off after 7000. The manual says the 3.6 makes peak power at 7200, 200 higher than the 4.0S. Both stunning engines.

The change up lights do drop the colder the oil is. Its very noticable after lunch on track days. 500 to 750 rev drop is normal for 4 or 5 laps.
Reving above 8000rpm is getting close to deternation(imo), my red line is 7000rpm by the time you change up its close to 7500rpm. Be carefull if you alter your red line to 7500 or above as you need 500rpm for you brain to register the red light and get your arm and leg to change gear, its 7500rpm by the time you change.
