Just thought a few of you may be interested....Speaking to Dom at TVR Power, they have a newly commissioned rolling toad setup there. They can do a before and after dyno test for 55 pounds....sounds a bargain to me. Give him a call and mention Pistonheads if your interested.

Apparently they strap the car down to stop it leaping off the road...

Booked in for Friday afternoon before driving to Le Mans next week.
Be interesting to get the results expecially after TVR Power rebuilt/blueprinted the engine 4000 miles ago.

Just got back....
312bhp at the wheels which is approximately 373bhp at the flywheel.
Max torque of 348.
Never stood next to a car doing 169mph before! :O
Cheers.... Andrew

Yep, I didn't really know what to expect.
Dom and Jason were very pleased.
Nice to know that there are no problems too.

Personally i'd get the car tested by someone who knows what there talking about. This comes from Dom saying that 32% leakage on a cylinder is acceptable!!!.

That's a bit harsh isn't it?
So would you be disappointed with 312bhp at the rear wheels?

those are stonking figures, bet you're chuffed

interestingly enough, the very first Tuscan I ever tested at John Noble Motorsport also made 373bhp, it was supposedly a std 4 litre but we suspected it was a red rose as it had been a dealer demonstrator. Still bloody good numbers though

Jules, do you reckon TVR tweak there dealer Demo`s then? I know the press/road tests cars are probably fettled in some way, but not sure on the dealer demonstrators,do you know something we don`t

there's always lots of rumours .. it's suggested that certain priviledged dealers always get good engines

daggart, fair enough. Obviously wasn't doubting you just didn't know your personal circumstances/

Trackcar, thanks. I'm not the most mechanically minded so good that somebody "in the know" thinks the figures are good.

Alt,i bet your car doesn't make 373 bhp and 348 ft'lbs.Just run it up to Austec and get someone ' in the know ' to check the claims.Your car has been checked at TVR Power who have a vested interest in your car looking better than it is.Also why don't you get trackcar to do a third gear run at the Surrey rolling road.My car has now made 450bhp at the flywheel on one rolling road and 455bhp on another in forth gear and 430bhp in third gear at Surrey.

I agree the torque sounds suspiciously high for a 3.6. Mine made 376hp and 349lb ft at Austec recently. Therefore I believe Alt's HP figures to be accurate - esp. since he has a super funky rebuilt engine.

Tvr Powers Dyno Information

The 224XLC Chassis dynamometer from Dynojet has set new standards in the development
of Rolling Roads.

The 224XLC uses one large diameter drum, enabling the tyre contact to resemble "on road" conditions,
this means that there is no wheel slip, or tyre damage whatsoever, unlike older twin drum systems,
where the tyre try's to climb the front roller leading to slippage, distortion and in extreme cases, failure.
Having no wheel slip issues, means that the dyno offers unparalleled repeatability.

The dyno has its own built in weather station, and allows no manual inputs, thus accurately correcting
the power to either SAE, DIN, EEC, STD or JIS correction factors. The dyno can perform either
Inertia tests, sweep tests, and step tests using the eddy-current retarder. By conducting a coast
down test, we can also measure drive train losses and calculate clutch power.

We can also read Air/Fuel live and plot it against RPM or speed.

Spec:
Drum Diameter: 24 Inches
Drum Width: 86 Inches
Maximum Horsepower: 1500+ Hp
Maximum Torque: 1500 ftlbs
Maximum Speed: 200 MPH (322Kph)
Maximum Axle Width: 81.5 Inches
Maximum Axle Weight: 3000Ibs
