... well it was for me anyway. As those of you who've read my views on the Sagaris will already know I'm a huge fan of the car and rave about it with the religious fervour of a born again, bible belt preacher. As part of a feeble attempt to prove my objectivity I have sited the wobbly bonnet and blocked in vents as the only two flies in an otherwise exquisite ointment.

Well I took the whole bonnet off over the weekend and found that theres a small metal bracket just in front of and between the windscreen wipers, that is easily adjustable for height. Given it's what the centre of the bonnet rests on, I suspected that increasing the height of this bracket would add tension to the normally wobbly bonnet (a bit like a tent pole) and restore some confidence to high speed cruising. For once I was completely right and it looks to me like this was the original idea behind the design. Now only the 'inspection' bonnet moves at all. Previously I had the whole lot bouncing up and down at anything over 100mph. I should add that nothing bad happened upto 140 mph but it looked more than a bit pony for a fast car. Now 125 is rock solid.

It would seem that my dealer has picked up a black mark on their otherwise spotless copybook as I asked them more than once to find a way to sort it and this rather obvious tweek would appear to be the answer.

It's entirely possible that all of you other Sagaris owners have bonnets that have been set up properly and it was just something amiss with my car but I thought I'd share this just in case.

That only leaves one more fly and a well known pher is working on that as we speak...

Hi Pits,
Mine goes in for its 6K service, and this is one of the issues I have. I will ask the dealer to look into this - many thanks for the tip.

Mine came with no metal bracket. The factory fitted one to mine a while ago, and on then next time they had the car they even adjusted it to prevent the bonnet wobble. That, coupled with slightly increasing the angle of the rear flap on the access bonnet has made a great improvement.

Above 150 the old wobble problem starts again though but it's not too bad until you go a bit faster.

I don’t understand why they didn’t put a proper retaining clip of some sort in the middle where the metal bracket is.

Did mine this morning, managed with the main bonnet still in place - as Pits says, main bonnet now rock solid.

Does this stop the inspection bonnet lifting in the middle? My main bonnet seems fine but at speed the centre of the inspection bonnet rises about half an inch. So much so that you can see underneath the black rubber seal.

Undo the bolt which stops the rear flap moving, increase its angle by about 10-15 degrees, drill a new hole and re-bolt it so it can’t move. This changes the aerodynamics enough that the access bonnet no longer lifts until 130-140 and even then it isn’t too bad.

Sportie if your main bonnet's fine I would imagine yours is already set up properly. This tweak helps the inspection bonnet only in so far as the main bonnet is more rigid and it cuts down bonnet movement overall. My inspection bonnet still moves a little but not enough to cause concern.
