Long story short and all that - My T350 is currently feeling rather poorly (warning code 16 water sensor and getting too hot in traffic); no problem as it's not my daily runner and should be a straight forward fix.... BUT......

I promised my nephew I would take him (and then his date - 2 trips) to his school prom (arrive in style and with a bit of noise). Today I've had to phone him and tell him I can't do it because the car is broken (prom tomorrow night - Friday). "gutted" doesn't really tell the story for him and "feel like st doesn't really tell the story for me.

I will be talking to dealer in the morning, but think it's a big ask to fix it same day with no notice.....

So, does anyone have any ideas around:

* Getting it fixed quick??? Possible??
* Anyone around the Swindon area free tomorrow between 6:30 & 7:30? (another big ask I know)
* Any sports car hire services (TVR is BIG preference).
* Anything - any other ideas...... at all....

Thanks,
John...

I'd phone around a few local dealers, explain the situation and hope they'll fit you in.

I'm assuming the water sensor has failed, and therefore the fans aren't cutting in, so it's running hot.

IIRC, the t350 has 2 temperature sensors, the displayed temperature and one which controls the fans. You'll just have to hope someone has one in stock.

Another solution would be to hard wire the fans to be always on. Not sure how/whether you could do that though....

Good luck in your search!

Fernhurst just replaced my water sensor as I had the same problem. Took about 20 minutes.

Good luck!

I had mine changed and it took minutes, so if they have the parts you've got a fair chance. Hopefully the guy scheduling jobs at the dealer has kids and will pull out all the stops...

I recently had water sensor failure error and a hot engine. In the morning when it had cooled I refilled the header tank and the sensor failure went away. It turns out I have a small hose leak and when water level falls engine overheats and sensor shows error BUT if kept topped up (only needs doing ever 2-3 days) then sensor works fine and all is OK.
Moral of story.. top up and see if it fixes problem before going for a new sensor. It may not be broken, it may just be leaking a little.

The water sensor that controls, or gives readings to the LCD display does NOT affect the operation of the cooling fans. I know this because I have just driven to work with the water sensor error, and water temp reading of 6 deg., but the fans were whirring away when I just parked up.

I have a spare water sensor. I can get it to you today if you want. £35, job done.

Try cleaning the sensor connectors (the one under the air filter) - they can get corroded from moisture and just require a clean (nail file) and some Vaseline.

Nope, you're entirely correct. I tried to say that earlier, but obviously didn't make myself clear enough. Definately 2 sensors - one on the dash is just an indicator for your benefit.

I'm always impressed with the level of knowledge and response on this forum - Thanks to all for your help so far.

It's currently at the dealers (they were very understanding - must have kids!). I called first thing to explain and they're looking at it now. Fingers crossed, my nephew may yet get to his prom in style.

Cheers,
John...
