How easy is it to adjust the idle?

The thing idle's fine without the aircon on, but when I have the air con on, the idle just isn't high enough, and when under harder braking/clutch dipping it can stall....

As i say, it is easy to adjust the idle? or is this ECU controlled or something?

Very easy, all you need is small 6mm ( i think) spanner and a the same size allen key, if you look on top of the fuel rail in between no 3 and 4 cylinder you will find a small allen headed bolt you undo the lock nut with the spanner an tweak the idle with the allen key, use the set up menu on the screen to get the most accurate reading easy

hi, don't touch it. go to your dealer for adjustment. I did the same thing on my tam, put the air mix completly out of balance on the back three cylinders, if you adjust by moving in the way suggested, it upsets the air intake butterflies, there are two adjusters, one sets the front three cylinders, the other the rear three. to do it correctly , you need a laptop with the software and the air gauge for the inlets.

Well i think you will find a few of us, me included have adjusted this way with no problems what so ever, i watched Fernies do it on my Tuscan, and i`ve do it myself on my Tamora. We are only adjusting the idle by 150rpm in most cases. Are we are talking about the same adjustment screw?

i'm sure we are on the same location. there's definitly two adjusting screws there. my tam started hunting before hitting full running temp, could not get to dealers so did a small adjustment myself, the car did not hunt any more - but it did run like crap. So took it in to castle tvr. the guys put it on the laptop and they told me what i had touched before i told them. they re-set using the air intake gauge and laptop for correct revs and fuel air mix. now it's as good as ever, I don't know if year makes any differance to the set up, mine's a 2005. It's the first trouble I've had from new in 8000 miles.cant hurt to ask the dealer before touching anything, got my tam from castle they have always been helpful.

mickthefish is correct. Tweeking the throttle adjustment is only ever a temporary measure and covering up the problem.

It's very simple to adjust the idle speed, and you wont upset anything if you do it correctly, and you dont need a laptop etc.I was given instructions on how to do this at home by tvr power, and it worked fine on my tuscan. If you adjust the wrong screw by mistake, then you will upset the balace though,so you need to be sure you have the correct screw! If your not sure then dont touch it!
