Got major problems on start up (appears to be electric?):

Had a new starter motor fitted 3 weeks ago and all has been great since then. Haven't driven the car in a week, go down today to get her out and make sure all is well and it just didn't start.

Turn key half way, demobilise it, all appears normal, then turn to full to crank it and the electrics all flash repeatedly as I hold the key down accompanied by a "clicking" sound - let go of key and everything resets itself back to the startup screen (and through the rev lights again).....

Tried 4/5 times....and it just goes through the same process...

Fairly sure its electric as it didn't even get to the starter motor stage - it appeared to fail and reset before that...

Any ideas? AA will be taking to garage in next few hours no doubt for a look first thing Monday....!!

Seconded. I've had this myself. It could also take 3 or 4 (or more) days to get back up to charge too, so it doesn't necessarily mean you need to fork out for a new battery.

Ah, good news then (in a way). Kinda relieved as didn't want to have a whopping bill for whatever.

AA is on its way....will they be able to charge it?

I doubt it. Like I said a flat battery can take days to pick up charge again. They might be able to give you a jump start though.

My experience tells me once these batteries run flat for the 1st time this will now happen repeatedly.
If you nedd a new battery its a 072 also an 069 fits
Just make sure the cranking ampage is 620 - 650

Since the starter motor has recently been fiddled with it could be a loose cable to the starter solenoid. Under the large currents needed it breaks contact and you hear a click.

Could also be a bat flattery.

Hi guys, thanks for comments.

AA charged it up in about 20 minutes then i got going. I am driving to Italy next friday so I dropped it up to TVR London and have left it with them. They will check it first thing Monday 1) to check connections and 2) to ensure battery is holding sufficient charge...

Given the imminent trip I might just get a new battery anyway...(nearly 2 years old and I don't drive it a huge amount..)
