HELP! Cannot close door on my Tamora
Discussion
Hello guys I need your assistance.
Went to take out the Tam for a drive and found the door open? Closed it but the door would not shut itself. Thought the mechanism was mistimed and blocking it but no it was in place. I played with it and turns out I can put the mechanism in a closed position and open it with my finger (without the use of the mirror button). I can only do this on the driver's door, however on the passenger door there is no way I can use my finger to release the mechanism, I have to use the release button. I think the weight of the driver's door is enough to pull open the release mechanism.
Anybody come across that? How can I sort it out? There is no way i can drive anywhere to sort it, the door will not shut.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes - I had this on my T350 ..
If you use a pen or a screw driver you can test the mechanism.
press the open button .. the use the pen to test the mechanism
- it should have 2 positions - 1 closed and 2 fully closed.
For the fully closed position you should not be able to 'open' the mechanism ..
If you can then it's a new mechanism needed.

Rev-erend, thanx for your reply. Is that an easy job to do yourself? can I buy the part and do a straight swap?
Do you know how much it will cost me and any tips when putting it on the car.
Ta very much.

I just had my local dealer do it .. so but looks straight forward enough.
Remove the stainless plate - 3 very small screws and the rest should be obvious.

You're being a bit paranoid aren't you?
What're the chances of a thief entering an unlocked car and then finding out they can't get out because of an electrical gremlin stopping the doors opening. And then using Google on his PDA to find out how to get out!
