This is getting annoying 3rd time I can’t start the car after a short stop in a week now !! The first time I stopped the car, I ran into a shop for 2 mins but the car wouldn’t start on my return. I know that Flooding can be a problem so only put my foot down very slightly to try and get it going but still nothing. I ended up getting a taxi home and left the car for 2 hours. When I got back the same thing occurred with it ticking over, but not starting. In the end I ended up freewheeling down the hill and started it in second. This worked and after a couple of minutes of spluttering it was back to normal.

This has happened 2 more times since, but after 30 mins of sitting at a petrol pump and Tesco's.... it started.

I have had the EFI warning coming up which I think has something to do with it, but HHC not sure until it goes in next week for a 5th gear sync.

Has anyone else had / heard of this problem ??

Next time it happens - put your foot flat to the floor on the accelerator - this tells the ECU to not open the injectors because engine speed = 0 thereby the engine pumps out the flooded fuel..

after a few turns - start as normal..

I learned this rather embarasingly from the AA after calling them out ..

I know that trick works on 'normal' cars like Audis, I've not dared try it on a TVR though.

If you've driven a mile or so from cold startup I'd expect the car to start again just fine. The only time it should flood is if you start the car and move it on/off the drive and turn the engine off after a few seconds. (OK, it shouldn't really BYKWIM). Maybe drive around the block another time before shutting down at the pertol station. Or leave the engine running if you're sure nobody will jump in and nick it (I know this is illegal).

I know, that does concern me slightly, the problem is this is occuring when it is hot 70 degrees + short journeys is fine, but then again some long ones are fine

Never had this in 17k miles/3years of very varied use; IMO a setting on throttles or ecu must be incorrect, I'm sure HHC will sort it
