Gearknob heatsink
Discussion
Another bit of market research Im afraid.
Allegedly TVR *stopped* the heatsink nature of the gearsticks/knobs in the 350/Tamora/Sagaris by fitting a rubber ring around the base of the gearstick for the Sagaris. This *allegedly* stopped the heat transfer from the transmission and into the cabin. Ive spoken to one owner moving from a 350 to a Sagaris who said that it worked for him. Now mine the gearknob has almost been too hot to touch over the last month or so, indeed, I keep mine covered with ciabatta leather golfing gloves and then the leather gets very hot. The rubber sleve stops the air transfer of heat yes, but it will do bugger all for the conduction of heat up the solid gearshaft and into the knob!
Given that mine is buggering hot, how many others of you out there also suffer from this? We have developed a new semi ceramic gearshaft/knob basically to act as a heatbrake purely from how hot mine got. Just wondering how hot they get for everyone else.

try directing the AC vent at it for long journeys, cool as ...
Or take the hot knob off, and put it into the airconditioned glove box for a while.
Hottest mine has been is a toss up between Monaco last summer and driving down Blackpool prom at back home. Both required speedy changes.

Had a hot knob on the furball. Found it was a combination of heat soak and the sun just baking it. Found a duster wrapped around it helped.
That's why I keep my golf glove over it...and the other glove over the handbrake. Even better is that I dont play golf, best use for a pair of golf gloves I have yet found though
Anyway, those with hot knobs, ba doom tish for the lavatorially inclined out there, Ill email via your profiles.
